Great video. Really helped my understanding with carveco. Since you used the stock as zero in your settings, when zero-ing the machine should I use Z zero on the wasteboard? X and Y can remain on the stock?

Thanks for your help. My only issue now is I keep losing icons on the right, how do I get them all back? Thanks
@SethCNC Жыл бұрын
The windows menu at the top will allow you to restore the panel. Buttons shouldn't dissappear though, however we've seen many times people using multiple monitors have dragged a panel of buttons to the other screen and not noticed 🤷♂️

The one case was after I simulated the project I could not find the save icon, I had to use the icon from the top tabs.

hi when i open a project the windows on the right are not open and i do not know how to open hose window work area?
@SethCNC2 жыл бұрын
Hi Sylvia. At the top is a menu called "Windows" in there are some options including one to reset the layout. You might have moved that section somewhere, and it isn't visible. This happens pretty often with dual monitor users and sometimes that menu screen ends up hidden right between the 2 monitors

So can I still use easel in conjunction with carveco?
@SethCNC2 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can use Easel (even free version) to send the gcode file Carveco creates. When saving the toolpath in Carveco set the "machine type" as Easel. Then in Easel you'll import the gcode and Easel will run the carve. You will need to set Zeros to as they were set in Carveco, which could vary from the Easel norms, so just keep that in mind at well.

Do you have a video from start to finish by chance using carveco and easel? Would like to see what process is taken all the way up to hitting carve!
@SethCNC2 жыл бұрын
@@PeteDominguezify I don't have a video using easel as the sender at all actually. IMO there's some flaws with the easel sender and I don't love it, so I always use a different sender Program called Openbuilds Control. However I could do one carve using Easel and record it.

Great video, Seth! Saw this just before I attempted a carve into some Purpleheart wood. The times were really excessive and these tips will knock hours off the carve time. As I'm fairly new to CNC carving, can I ask about the Openbuilds software? It's something I have come across before and would like to know what it's like to use in comparison to Candle and UGS?
@SethCNC2 жыл бұрын
Hey James! Thank you!! OpenBuilds Control is overall quite similar to UGS, there's a few feature differences between them that might lead one to pick either one over the other. They both have a super small list of included features that are missing from the other one. I did a little introduction video to OpenBuilds . . . kzbin.info/www/bejne/b6Pbn3d_i9eJgq8

First starting in Carveco, will it “auto set” the feeds,speeds,etc.. like easel???? Just starting out is the reason I ask
@SethCNC2 жыл бұрын
Sort of, you will have to select a bit from the library or enter the one you want into the library of its not already there. However the bits in the library are setup for the optimal settings of the bit, without regard to the capabilities or your specific cnc. So if you're running a weaker cnc, like a 3018 than you'll need to edit the provided settings. Easel also reccomends users edit or at least verify the settings they provide as well, often times they are very conservative and can be set more aggressive. 🤷♂️

Seth, I have a license for Vcarve. Would this file work with Vcarve? My son was a submariner and I'd love to get a copy of this badge to do something for him if it would work and if you can/would share the file. Thanks for the great info.
@SethCNC2 жыл бұрын
Yes, i used a .stl file for this so the file would work with vcarve pro or aspire. I purchased the file from 3d wave and I was going to drop the link to it when I noticed that it can be found on their site in search using "navy submarine" but all of their military files actually don't load. I assume that they caught papers from some lawyers about trademark/copyright and took them down... The same thing happened to a well known patriotic vector website around this same time last year. There are sellers on etsy selling the file still, but I noticed those are simplified versions and lack the details found on the version 3d wave was selling. I have a license to manufacture physical products but I cannot distribute the file and not wanting to risk loosing my license I can't actually send anyone the files that are covered under those licenses. I'm sorry about that. www.etsy.com/listing/879305945

Carveco is artcam same features
@SethCNC2 жыл бұрын
Sortof; artcam was developed by a company called Delcam which was purchased by Autodesk and promarily for some of its other software and artcam was allowed to go on without updates for years and eventually Autodesk wanted to close the project down, this is when one of the original Delcam software engineers purchased the source code but autodesk wanted too much $ for the trademark "artcam" name so it was renamed Carveco and the flagship full version is very close to artcam, with some noted improvements since it was purchased back and updates were implemented. The new owner also decided to make lower teirs of the software at a much more affordable price to introduce beginners and less industrial small shops to the software. The version shown in this video is only $15/month carveco maker. So its source code is the same as artcam, with constant updates, bug fixes and other improvements.
