The chassis is very sturdy and the squaring is well done, looking forward to seeing the rest and the beautiful evolution of this machine. Looking good, I used a similar system with the piano wire to align my tracks when building my MechMate router. Those are interesting aluminium profiles, where did you source them? I would be interested in seeing the 3d model when you are ready to release it.

Thanks! Were you able to tension it enough? I noticed that I still got some deflection. The aluminium profile is an ISB 16x80. I got them from tech-specialist.com, but I believe it's a Belgium company.

@@KraftedByKoen the tensioning was always a challenge, especially over the long axis which on my MechMate was over 3 meters long. But once you surface the spoil board it's more than accurate enough for a wood router. Chasing 10ths of a micron is a frustrating exercise and has very little benefit.

That is looking really good! What motors are you going to use? And by the way, a wise man once told me "if you can`t make it perfectly straight, make it adjustable"!

Thanks! And those are words to live by 🙌 For X and Y I'm going to use Closed loop, NEMA 34, stepper motors with a rack and pinion system. The Z-axis will be a NEMA 23 stepper with a ball screw.

How much do two guides like this cost? Will there be a third video?

I did go for the budget line from Almotion. The two X-axis rails (H25) were about €300, and the Y-axis (H20) €130. The bearing blocks are about €20-€30 a piece. There will be at least two more videos. 'The mechanics' and 'the electronics'. I have lost some footage which I'm trying to recover, so it takes a bit longer than expected.

I don't plan on selling plans, yet. There are a lot of people asking for the plans so I think I will make the 3D model for this machine available (for free). There are however some improvements to be made. If I make an updated version I would maybe sell plans for that. Is that something you would be interested in?
