It's great to see that things are in decent shape inside. That'll help you sleep better at night. :)

Hey John. Yes it,s a good feeling to know it will be fine to use this spindle as is. I guess in some ways that is the whole point of the rebuild. To know that at least the mechanicals will be good for years to come. Thanks for following along during the rebuild. Peter.

Hey Jan. It seems a lot of work to do just to make sure ?? But i have more confidence seeing it with my own eyes. When i first looked at this lathe it had NO noises anywhere. It just looked sad and needed some Love. I am sure it will be happier having me as it,s new owner, lol. Thanks for watching. Peter.

My lathe had 4 bearings. All radial contact bearings but there was 2 at the front and two at the back of the spindle. And yes the cost of bearings is crazy.. awesome video.

It,s funny when i was removing the main shaft from the spindle housing. I kept my fingers and toes crossed hoping to not have to replace the bearings. I had already priced the replacements ???? If the bearings needed to be replaced i would have replaced them no doubt. But it's a bill i prefer to not have. I think at some point someone has already replaced the bearings previously as some of the pages from the parts manual had been removed for photocopying. Not that it means anything but i was hoping, LOL. Thanks for taking the time to watch. Much appreciated. Peter.

Hey Aaron. Don,t get me to excited about the end date. Unfortunately it is some time off still. At the moment i put myself behind on my work by working on the Mazak Mission for to long. Today being Sunday still playing catch up ?? As i work on the Mazak i get carried away and don,t want to stop, lol. Trying to bolt on as many parts as i can at the moment. I see even Sunil giving me the hurry up in a reply, lol. Thanks for following along. I always appreciate the people like yourself that comment. At least i know someone is watching my video,s ?? Peter.

Nice work Peter on the inspection and cleanup on the spindle shaft. Enjoy your weekend.

Hey Lloyd. It is very time consuming to pull things apart just to see if they are fine. But it gives you the confidence to know at some important parts of your machinery will run trouble free. Thanks for watching. Peter.

Glad to see and hear that those bearings are reusable. Getting to see inside that spindle is really cool too, thank you for that. It's getting closer. Are you getting anxious to get it back in service yet? ;).

Hey Tim. Yes it is good to know the bearings will be fine. I already had an idea that they would be good right from the start when i went to look at the lathe. But it,s good to actual good to see everything is good. Gives me a little more confidence to know they will last for some time yet. I will not be using this lathe everyday, so it should last me for many years to come. It,s funny you mention getting closer ? In the next video you will see i have made some good progress ( but plenty more to still do ???? lol ) Good to see you following along during this mission. Peter.

Hey Max. I had to smile as i read your comment. Yes definitely reuse the bearings, lol. As you know it,s a good feeling to know you can keep some money in your pocket for another project. Don,t worry i will not drop it ???? ( stay positive ) At the moment i have it bolted to the bench so it can not move, lol. Thanks for taking the time to watch. Much appreciated. Peter.

What type of bearings are they?
@weldmachine4 жыл бұрын
It,s hard to say the type of bearings that are fitted. I never asked. ( i only know the part numbers ) You can get some idea from the video. I only know they are expensive to replace, LOL. I guess not so important to know the type only the replacement part number, which can be difficult to know without the original parts manual. From what i know they have at some point been replaced previously to me owning this machine. Why i say that ? Is someone has removed the pages from the manual to photocopy them ? Must have been for a reason ?? Thanks for watching. Peter.
