Brilliant job as always! Awesome contrast between the Acetal and Acrylic - would love to see this with a non-transparent fluid.

My CNC arrives Monday!! I can't wait to get good enough that I can make stuff like this. Funny because I'm about to build my new 3950X based rig inside of the Evolv X. Gonna modify the front & top panels with my CNC

I have a Question sir. Have you ever done a video. On a basic, & or entry level CNC machine. That a beginner could buy to start off on. I have seen a lot of your videos. You have an Amazing gift. Thank you for sharing your gift.
@bittech15 жыл бұрын
I haven't yet, no. It's largely down to how I've actually only got hands on experience with my particular machine, so recommending others is a tricky business. CNC routers have lots of quirks at the entry level so it's hard to navigate it all you're right. I basically went with the idea of skipping those rungs and went for the CNCStep machine I have.

Actually curious... how would you make a distro plate *without* a CNC. Well at least a simplified version. Thanks
@mordechy5 жыл бұрын
probably with at least 3 layers of acrylic and you couldnt use o rings for sealing you would have to seal the sides with premade gasket cut to size or something and its not going to look as nice
@noxious891235 жыл бұрын
Well CNC just stands for computer numeric control... So you could still do it using a milling / drilling machine, but just controlled by hand. Good luck with that though!
@landen12345 жыл бұрын
hand router, large table, lots of fences to keep router straight. use a middle layer with channels cut through entire width of the acrylic instead of just 3/4 the way through. you can do normal channels, but its hard and not as good looking as when a cnc does it

@bittech15 жыл бұрын
Not without warping the finish I think. You could get a mirror polish cut by using an endmill instead though, drills have more reach though and there's a lower risk of snapping a tool so I use those.

What are the extra holes in the acetal for?
@Metatr0n4 жыл бұрын
To mount the distro plate. Screws go through the mount into the back of the distro plate. I guess he decided to make them through-holes because else he had to stop the workflow, turn the acetal over and start machining again.

question why didnt you go zig-zag with the same stepover in the faceing op ? the stress on the machine would had been the same. it would had been faster and the chance of diffrent Z high would had been so much lover since it dosent have to go up and down for each pass it would also have like 40ish % less code in the faceing op ( some machines had a very limited amout of codes they can have in each progam/ up. and if you have some really long programs it can help with haveing less code in the program ( it can be what does that there are enough space to run it or not. tried that my self ) not that it would be that hard to change/re program that part by hand xD since im a fully educated machinest my self i just wanna understand why people program there stuff the way they do anyway good job
@bittech13 жыл бұрын
This was quite a while ago for me so it’s hard to know exactly my process at the time. I believe it was because I observed better results when sticking to just climb milling. Everything’s changed a fair bit since then so I’d take these settings with a pinch of salt.
@flikflak243 жыл бұрын
@@bittech1 it was almost climb and convensional milling at the same time since you pretty much had all of the tool diameter engage at ones so barely any diffrence ( if any) if you had just stepd over the same amouth before going back ) also i know that first hand from my self xD boy oh boy the amouth od grow/changed in just 7 month in mahninig and cam skills if you want i can teach someof what i can ?where you can compensaid for your machine you wouldnt be the first one i teach ( i even ended up teaching my own teachers xD )

Whut? The finish is bang on, you can see the edge polish cut clearly. Acetal is very anisotropic when cut so the machining marks are part of the appearance on purpose. It would have been clear instead if the acrylic were machined.
