Y’all wonder why young people “don’t want to work” and don’t get into the trades Yet whenever a young person gets into the trades, they get relentlessly criticized over the dumbest/ smallest things. I get it on my main channel all the time. Despite the 15 year’s experience, and 8 years running my own shop. We all start somewhere. I think she did great.

Young people won't do the trades because to get started, you have to take the shit jobs first, 15-20$/hr to get experience. My first machining job in 2017 was 13$/hr the 2nd one was 21$/hr, and now I'm making 31$/hr and arguably underutilized. The bad thing is now my skills as the years go on will get rusty due to under utilizing my skill set however I try to do what I can to keep myself up to date and practice writing programs/using cam software.

Too many kids expect huge salaries, for no work. They also expect the work they would have to do, to be different/easier than what it is. That being said, there is a lot of gatekeeping in the workforce, too. My current job was difficult to get into, it required specialized schooling, a few years of industrial experience, and several leadership projects at work. I had to play chicken and egg to get in, you need several years experience of industrial experience for the job, but you can't get an industrial job without several years experience. It isn't that nobody wants people in the position, but rather HR policies in the majority of the companies I have run across, are doing like the memes have become. They want an 18-22 Y.O. with 15+years experience.

You should try working in a machine shop as the owner's son you're surrounded by the very finest talent there is and you can't throw out the garbage the right way every time they see you coming it's bosses boy this bosses boy that it's like a multi-year hazing but with each and every success you earned the respect of the Masters you don't demand it the bosses boys stuff never goes away but the respect they give you is a powerful thing. The hard part about machine shop is dealing with people’s egos. Boss wants you to do it his way, the programmer wants to do it his way, the floor supervisor wants you to do his way, the set up man wants you to do it his way, then you get to the operator and they want to do it their own way. All this adds up to a miserable ass way to make a living. Good luck lady.

With CNCs, you’re generally not running the machine without the doors closed, so you’re well away from any rotating bits unlike with a manual machine. However, if you have the spindle turning with the doors open for any reason, you follow the same rules as with a manual. Although it’s generally good practice to just follow the manual machine rules while running any machine
