I worked at a shop where we would replace spindles every 3-4 years. We implemented a similar system and it increased spindle life and paid for itself in the first few years. I would recommend this if you are holding tight tolerances.
@christianheidt5733 Жыл бұрын
What did you guys do that you have to change the spindle every 3 to 4 yrs?
@valuedhumanoid65744 жыл бұрын
This is amazing. Here’s my process at work: I take the holder out of spindle and drop it into a vise. Loosen the set screws, remove old tool, open drawer and hope I have another, drop it in, make sure it’s seated, tighten set screws with worn out Allen key and pipe, slap back in spindle and hit the cycle start button. My how technologically advanced we have become...

I know what you mean! Hydraulic tool holders have been a huge step up for me from some terrible ER collets but to jump up to this set up for most small machine shops is inconceivable. I did wonder though, why not just get an induction nut buster and a vernier height gauge?

Im very new at the whole CNC Mill game but I actually just ran into a situation where I was getting a really crummy contour finish. After a couple of hours of changing tools, s/f rates etc. I finally call a buddy who is a pro. His advice, change the holder. I did and it fixed the issue. He uses a bunch of the Haimer gear in the video (makes medical parts) and said if nothing else invest in the shrink fit stuff.

The heat shrink is awesome. The preset tool makes sense for shops that have many machines. but the balancer seems over the top and the system is dumb. why do i have to look on a silly chart in the box wich screw to pick? The machine could just tell wich screw to put where. and think about sorting them back after the tool is worn out...

@@Vincemaan Balancing is an investment, but the increase in spindle and tool life pay for it quicker than you would think! Fixing imbalance with screws is an inexpensive correction method without permanently removing material from the holder every time you need to change a tool. The chart makes it easier for the user to correct balance issues without needs 100+ different screws for individual weights; imagine trying to put that many screws back in the right place!
@Vincemaan4 жыл бұрын
@@haimerusallc I understand that. But the machine can know that this is a balance error that cant be corrected with one screw and could tell just tell like put a Nr 4 screw in the hole 3 and a Nr 1 Screw in hole 5 instead of doing that thing with the chart. That would remove the operator error if someone does not understand the chart. I mean even "boom Bob" had to look twice on the chart...

Hes showing you what you COULD have if money wasnt a object like it is for him, where you could drop $200,000 on a room like this. Def NOT needed to compete

I would assume the same thing about the weights as well but as for the holder getting hot enough to "unshrink fit" the tool... our doing something very wrong if your tool and holder get that hot.

No, the holder is re-usable. The heat thermally expands the hole of the holder so that a tool can fit in, when it cools it contracts again clamping onto the tool. To remove just reheat to expand the hole to replace tool.

While it does have merit to add human-readable text to the printed label, it doesn't make sense to print a QR code as the whole system is using a Data Matrix. Why not stay with Data Matrix throughout? Then you could just repeat the Data Matrix code laser etched on the tool holder, which is essentially a license plate or serial number for tracking purposes. Then the user could visually verify that the label Data Matrix matches the one on the tool holder while applying it or subsequently. Thus preventing putting the wrong label on a tool holder because you know it's going to happen eventually.
