On the swage station, there's some flexing on the shell plate as the swager goes up to swage the case. I'm under the impression that you don't want your shell plate to flex at all but I don't see that it's costing you any issues. Is that a stock Dillon shell plate or FFB shell plate? When I set up my 1100, I didn't allow the shell plate to flex on the swage station. Personal preference I guess, nice setup by the way!

Yes you are correct. The Bullet Sense mirror will not work on the RL1100 on the primer rod without modification, I didn't not want to hack the mirror with a dremel and decided to use the mount to check for bullet in last station.

Great video and camera work! I just see too many videos on the Apex 10 with issues and not so many on the RL 1100 which seems more solid to me. I am a novice but it seems like you would always want to have a hold down die or equivalent during the priming so as to steady the case. Does your die in station 4 do that? It looks like the factory RL 1100 toolhead doesn't have the threaded #4 station to add a die on the primer operation so is this modified toolhead the only way to do it? So, if you were forced to add a powder check, is there any option with this modified toolhead that would allow you to still have separate seating and crimping stations and still have a bullet feeder, or is the only solution the 2 in 1 seat/crimp die? I know Lee Precision has a plastic flimsy bullet feed kit that feeds a bullet into the seat die; the idea is a good one cause it doesn't add a station requirement. Seems like Mr Bullet Feeder could come up with an adapter or create a feed/seat die in one to fit the Dillon products but I guess that would kill Apex 10 sales, ha. I think Franklin Arsenal is headed that way with their X-10, which also seems to have lots of issues in early testing but even they used up so many stations early that they are being forced to combine feeding and seating into one station with a proprietary bullet feeder. Give me the proven Dillon press for now although I may wait on their RL 10,000 ten station press, haha.

Great questions and commentary I appreciate you watching! This is an aftermarket toolhead made by CNC Shooters which is unfortunately made of unobtanium. I am not certain but I believe it is no longer made. Right place and time when I landed it. The owner was a cool dude as well. Yes Station #4 is threaded on this aftermarket toolhead and I am using a Lyman M-Die as hold down. The only way I could add the Powder Check on this press would be to combine seat/crimp in the last station. I have the die in my drawer but never got around to adding it.

Yeah absolutely! I am the PrimerSense and BulletSense only. The PrimerSense is only $30.00 and it attaches to the Dillon Low Primer Alarm to stop the machine when primers are low. The BulletSense is the most expensive sensor sold by Mark7 at a cost of $350.00. I bought the machine in July 2020 when Mark7 was offering 1 FREE sensor with the purchase of an AutoDrive. I also have paid for the SwageSense and waiting for Mark7 to release the version compatible with the RL1100. It was due in Fall and still not out. Hopefully soon!

@@SpartanArmament am a little confused you have the bullet sense on the crimp station. A little late to stop the machine if you get a sideways or missed drop. Or am I missing something ?
@SpartanArmament2 жыл бұрын
@@snowgorilla9789 it's not too late because it is "sensing" for a bullet PRIOR to starting that specific cycle. If there is no projectile present the machine stops, I pull that case (with powder) and put aside. When I am done with my session I put it back on the bullet seat station and manually place a projectile. It seats the projectile then goes to the crimp station and out to the bin. While it is preferable to put the BulletSense 1 station prior, I got my RL1100 and AutoDrive in Mid-2020 and the mirror did not fit on the primer tube without heavy modification which is why I placed the mirror on the arm by the swage station.

@SpartanArmament3 жыл бұрын
Anything can go awry which is why it is important to understand the mechanics of your machine first and the purpose of each station. I do trust Dillon but I have to trust myself more. Which means when I have a stoppage I pull all cases from the machine and dump powder in anything past station 5 unless it was already seated with a bullet which I put back for crimp. The Dillon powder measure is spot on within very minute differences in power drops, the double charges occur when you have a stoppage fail to pull the case and recharge again. At this point anything is possible and I am always concerned for my safety.

@@Blingem14 ines I bthe same boat as you. Was going between buying the 1100 or the Mark 7 Apex 10 station loader. I based my decision to get the 1100 on two things. Cost, and use. For me personally I will not be going with an auto drive for a long time (or at least not in the next year or two) and only load 9mm major and minor, and 40 cal. Currently I have a absolute crap ton of 40 loaded so really only 9mm minor since both me and the girlfriend are shooting minor. But my 9 minor and major are only a different powder and bullet. Same everything else. I have the knob for the powder drop marked for where it needs to be for both. So it came down to a couple key things. I don't need extremely precise ammo for long range shooting as we shoot USPSA, and while having separate stations for everything is cool it's not worth the extra cost. In my cost vs use analysis I included the Mr. Bullet Feeder as part of initial purchase as well. And everything to load both 40 and 9mm. With the very mixed reviews of the Mark 7 machines I gave Dillon the points for quality and ease of setup/use. Didnt need 10 stations, so Dillon. Everything else came dont to cost. I could buy the entire setup, plus a few extra little things if I got the dillon. So that's what i did. To get it all with in a week or purchase i found a new 1100 set up for 40cal, bought a lyman pro 9mm die setup and 1100 conversion kit separate. Took the 40 cal dies out of the tool head and setup the 9mm dies. Eventually I'll get a second tool head for 40, with powder measure. And a 3rd powder measure just for 9 major. Hope this helps you choose.

@@doncrow5529 I keep hearing that. Can someone please explain how you replace the Lee guts with the Mr. BF Powder funnel?
@doncrow55294 жыл бұрын
@@SpartanArmament My apologies if this is too much information or if I’m telling you something you already know… The Lee Universal Expanding Die comes with two inserts. They are stacked in the die and you switch positions based upon your needs. You can remove those two inserts and use the MBF powder funnel instead. For the powder measure I just use the pistol powder activator instead of the MBF or the Dillon equivalent. That allows the tweaking of the flare without messing with the powder measure. The effect of using the MBF powder funnel in the Lee die is very similar to what you get with the M-die. The profiles of the MBF and the M-die are fairly close. Some history: The early releases of the Mark 7 EVO press included (for 9mm at least) the Lee 4 die carbide die set. They (Mark 7) replaced the Lee Powder Through Die with the Lee Universal Expanding Die. At that point in time the MBF was an automatic part of the package. They didn’t have the “a la carte” ordering system that they are using these days. Their instructions were to take the MBF powder funnel from the MBF package and use it in the Lee Universal Expanding Die. That is where I first heard of using the MBF funnel in that fashion. I don’t know if they are still doing that. Hope that helps.
