I liked this practical, step by step video. I am finishing my home build CNC router and the workflow is just mind boggling to keep everything straight. For the time being, I'm sticking with a big sharpie and I keep making new jobs and trying it out to see where I get caught up. And making sure I don't click the wrong button on my interface. I have several times hit the home button for Z instead of the set work coordinate home and it crashes away since I din't have anything set up for Z homing.

I would recommend having all the homing limits set up before starting - it produces better reliability and repeatability, but it's also safer as you can use soft limits so head of the machine won't crash into the extremities.

Jezz gezz, that was a lot of G's. Nice of them to give you trial keyz. What else rhymes with cheese, hmm, er, CNCs. I am on a roule. Nice recovery and roundness results from the unpuckering puck. Very nice machine. I just got myself a 3 and 1/2 foot bed 70 year old south bend lathe sb9c, with not much wear. I can make long round things now. Well when I put all together again.

As long as it's a metal lathe I can forgive you! Yeah the licence is only temporary so it's like hiring a fast car - just need to make sure it doesn't get wrecked.

@@EducatingSavvas lol, it's like my cambam free trial. 40 uses, so when i use it, the pc stays on for weeks.

do you have a center probing macro?

Your Z zeroing technique is going to accumulate errors. Just use a piece of metal of known thickness and drop it on the top surface of the job. Use the job surface as your datum. I do this. My code is G91G21; Incremental mode and coordinates to mm G38.2Z-30F100; Lower the tool rapidly until it contacts (pin A5 goes low on my controller). Give up at 30mm in case probing fails G0Z.3; Lift the tool 0.3mm G38.2Z-1.11F10; Lower the tool slowly until it contacts G92 Z9.79; Offset the height coordinate by the height of the measuring puck. Mine is 9.79mm thick G91; Again set incremental mode (just to make sure) G0 Z10.21; Raise the tool until it is 20mm (9.79 + 10.21) above the reference level M30 End

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news buts it’s time to start mk3 cnc control, grbl just released a new version which allows the slaved Y axis stepper to home using a separate limit switch. This allows automatic gantry squaring. It’s only one extra wire......... Full details and instructions are in the new config-h file. Good luck 😉

I've been waiting for that to be released for ages. I couldn't understand why they would keep two different type of coolants / flood terminals but not move to dual axis homing. Anyway I got a change to use a Duet 2 and have set up another machine with dual axis homing and lots of other features. Reprap is not great for CNC but it's slowly changing.

How do you get the LED to turn red when its running?
@EducatingSavvas5 жыл бұрын
I wired the spindle enable pin via a relay to the red LED lights on a RGBWW strip lights. I go over this in one of the previous videos - CNC Control Box
