Sure one can do almost anything on 3 axis mill but sometimes its quite painful. Back when we got our first 5 axis machine and learned how to run it i was completely blown away by the simplicity of work. We used to run parts that required 6 different setups and some of them were in odd angles that needed to be set up with care.

Could you walk me through the process. Im new at cnc milling, having a 3 axis and wanting to work on more complex parts. When im done with one side and wanting to start on the next, how do a actually do it, do ike make the part in free CAD or simular, half machined? The starting to mille on the next side? And how the hell do I center the piece and making sure its located right? 😜

great video nice piece, you could make videos about fastening devices, or even give a presentation of use in work pieces share a little of your experience passing on the types of fastening you've already done there aren't many videos that talk about this type in detail of subject . thank you, I'll wait !

I think they did a good quick quality job. Yes there’s many ways to skin a cat. Yet they got the job done and looks awesome. No reason to downgrade someone maybe they learned something on that job and will apply it later. We should build up the community and show NFGs how it’s done.

Nice job and like the ingenuity for fixing the part, so the other side can be machined accurately. So the question is, do you want a 3-axis very stable mill and have the trouble to make fixing part tool once in a while or buy a 5-axis maybe not as stable and robust machine
@Kizmox
@Kizmox Жыл бұрын
5 axis any time. It is just that much better even if you get relatively light weight one. Keeping spindle turning even if you have to take lighter passes makes you money. Programming several setups and doing physical setup work costs money. Its all about maximizing the spindle cutting hours per day. Typical jobshop can be very poor in that regrads.

Depends on the tool. Smaller tools won't show but big tools might. We bought an 80mm feed mill last year for very heavy roughing. I would run it 80-90% load as this was giving reliable results but when the inserts wore or chipped the spindle load could go up to 120%
