After YEARS of using a CNC router, I can say working from center, for us, makes WAY more sense.
@JohnBuildsIt3 жыл бұрын
Good to know! I was just thinking it’d be easier to have a permanent right angle fence in the corner to always just line up and start from there. But it’s really not that big of deal to just use a square and start in the middle
@rolandgdean3 жыл бұрын
@@JohnBuildsIt Yeh, I had the machine drill a "grid" of half inch holes in the spoil boards that I use half-inch dowels as dogs with. We keep two in the front edge as a "fence" and I hardly ever change the X axis because I just line up "left-to-right" under the spindle, then clamp the piece and just adjust Y and Z. Jay Bates had a similar Axiom. Find his videos on it, they're helpful if a bit verbose.

Hi John, I was wondering how loud your I2R CNC is. I know sound is subjective but I would like to know your thoughts. Thanks!

Depends on the bit, but can be very, very loud haha. It’s not really the machine itself that’s loud though

@JohnBuildsIt3 жыл бұрын
I’m just now getting proficient in sketchup haha, may have to switch over
@antonstafeyev36063 жыл бұрын
@@JohnBuildsIt it is a bit different from sketchup but i would recommend making a switch. 1) More features to work on complicated stuff. 2) Able to do CNC routing calculations and optimizations. 3) Huge library of components to use. i would switch just for cnc portion of it.
@Greybeardmedic3 жыл бұрын
The accuracy and repeatability of a CNC relies a lot on assuming the surface it is sitting on is rigid and doesnt move. I strongly suggest that you build a very robust stand for your CNC, perhaps even bolting it to the wall or floor.
@JohnBuildsIt3 жыл бұрын
This thing is stout, doesn’t move as is. But yea I will be 👍🏽

Hey, awesome video! I noticed your telling that the spoilboard was perfectly leveled! I also checked that up and though that it was that! Thing is when you go over with big sheets 24*48 cuts i notice it didn't cut the whole way through on some places! I found out the the mdf board where shifting is thickness! I bought a flattening bit! I order all my bits from toolstoday.com! Buy the Ams-179 kit and your set with professional bits for a long time! I did a resurfacing over the spoilboard with 0.0393 inch (1mm) of depth! Then I saw that my thought about uneven thickness on the mdf was indeed not perfect! Now every cut is perfectly all over the bed! Let me know if you guys want me to send the toolpaths for the resurfacing of the i2R 8 model!
@JohnBuildsIt3 жыл бұрын
I’ve been looking into doing that! That’d be awesome if you can send the tool path!! My email is jrhopson7@gmail.com

How do you like the centipede stand for it? I have a 2x6 centipede but am thinking of getting the 24x24 I2R and would probably get the 2x4 centipede with an oversized board on the top. do you find that it is stable or do you get much wobble? thanks
