I think I'm going to spring for the 1080p/core i5(?) version of this. Some people say the raised black edge is sharp and cuts into your wrist when typing, however as of now I don't do much long typing plus the way I type, the pads of my palms below my thumbs rest on the keyboard deck and my wrist wouldn't come into contact with that edge so that's not a concern. Looks like a solid hybrid! I recently got an HP Pavilion X2 12" detachable, but it has lots of build quality issues, I'm on my second unit. The magnets are so strong it feels like I'm going to break it when trying to detach the tablet section. Well it's going back for good, and I'm swinging over to Best Buy for one of these.

+Ch4osWe4veR I would not suggest ANY HP laptop that cost under one thousand to anyone. I've seen more than fair share of grave issues on numerous HP products. Even a number of HP products which pose fire hazards at less than one year of white glove care ownership

Yet none of the competitors you mentioned have an UHD display to drive, I'm positive the 1080p version gets significantly more battery run time. None the less, looks a very capable, great little machine.

You'd be lucky to get more than 4 hours out of this laptop. The 6 hours they quoted is probably at minimum brightness, idle, airplane mode, with nothing open.

Abner Hernandez that won't really do anything to the battery life. But yes you can reduce the laptop resolution.

Hello, what's the use of this USB Type-C Gen 2 Port? Is it not thunderbolt 3? So does this mean that i could use external storage, type-c to HDMI, VGA, or Ethernet, and that's it? No external GPU and No charging the laptop?

That buffering on the 4K video from KZbin has way more to do with your connection rather than the computer's processor. your internet is probably too slow.

yea hes dumb asf 4k video cnt even run on 18mbps wifi speed. you will need over 50mbps to watch 4k video on youtube

Don't blame the laptop. not sure about the the body but for the specs, it is actually very good for the price at $1399 compared to what you get on an IMac and Surface Book at that price and am considering it. Better CPU, storage, screen resolution, color, sound and camera also with windows hello. Surface Book is more light weight, is detachable from the keyboard, has a stylus, a - magnesium body & gorilla glass 4.- (cool but not necessary unless your clumsy and does it make the touch screen any less reflective?) also I prefer a 16:9 ratio so videos don't give me big black bars. IMac.....Well you get their exclusive operating system.

What laptop is that? Is it heavy? Is it a convertible? does it have an SSD? The main point was for a portable laptop. I already have a beast of a desktop. I did back off from buying it however, because I found out that it is a dual core and don't feel like I have to get a laptop 2017 when I'm out of my country for the summer. overall, more justifiable than a surface book and a very good portable convertible.

My 4k tv plays 4k vids without pauses and a computer cant? My Lenovo Yoga 2 pro also has issues with 4k youtube content as well. Downloaded 4k vids are fine, no pauses or anything. 4k pauses with youtube vids is a dealbreaker. I was looking to purchase a new laptop but I'll wait until youtube and laptop makers figure it out.

A 30Mbps internet speed is recommended to stream 4k content with a breeze. Anything lower than that along with a couple other devices connected to the same network will throttle the speed down, hence your 4k stream will be stuttering more often than before.

I own the highest variant of this particular laptop. THE TRACKPAD KEEPS BREAKING DOWN. IT DOESNT RESPOND AFTER 30MIN OF USE. I GOT IT REPLACED ONCE AND STILL HAPPENS.

Bad review and very poor review methodology. This laptop ran flawlessly the several times I tested in stores. I always ran the exact 4k 60fps youtube video this reviewer did. Used Microsoft Edge and never ever had an issue. No lag, no stutter, nothing. There are two things you always have to be aware of when demoing a video and that is signal strength and what browser you are using. This reviewer failed to either account for both or remark about how each is equally important in testing. Seriously, C|NET, get your act together and find better reviewers.

Also if this thing has a TOSHIBA HDD, just DONT BUY IT. TOSHIBA HDDs are the worst in the market and they will fail at you easily. Also except this thing to overheat as its the case with most TOSHIBA laptops.
