Looking forward to the new Teams. The ability to skip/pass on useless meetings and have Copilot write a summary of the key points seems like a great idea. Then have it emailed to you. Really brings out "This meeting could have been an email" to life.

The idea of copilot is spot on, and is exactly what I've been wishing for at work when I thought about how to apply AI to my job as a project manager. The most exciting feature is managing meetings like this where the AI is your assistant in taking notes, summarising and capitalising (by unmistakable memory) on the verbal exchanges, and also being able to tell the AI on how to summarise and report the data that you have (although collecting and cleaning up the data is the bulk of the work usually). But, thinking about how this could be adopted by my fortune 500 employer, honestly I would not trust the AI and be able to truly rely on it, probably not for a few years until this has been seriously tested in a business application with real stakes. There is no way the company would let us make multi million real-dollar decisions based on information compiled by AI, until it has been tested as bullet proof. I guess smaller ambitious businesses would have to pave the way. Very very exciting stuff. Love the fact that OpenAI is in collaboration with Microsoft, the company that provides all the tools of my trade.
@Oldskoola
@Oldskoola Жыл бұрын
You can get explanations on what copilot did and correct it, if needed. It’s not necessary to be 100% bulletproof as you are still in the driver seat. When it’s 100% bulletproof - the job of a project manager ist unnecessary.
@denvermartin9656
@denvermartin9656 Жыл бұрын
Pretty soon the AI would replace the project manager and business analyst. It would meet with the user/customer and based on a script ask the user questions that will automatically generate pm/ba artifacts, the methodology, action items, resources needed, etc and run the project. Taking it a step further, then the end user/customer gets replaced with AI and then we have AI building stuff for other AIs 😂

I think many companies have seen the coming tidal waves of a tech trend and put all their faith in that trend. This happened with NFTs and the Metaverse. Sometimes, though, that wave rocks the world like a tsunami, and the few companies who believed in it and brought it to fruition change the way we all live our lives. A long time ago, Microsoft underestimated the influence the Internet would have on our lives. They will not make that mistake again. Microsoft products have been mediocre at best for far too long, and them putting their faith into AI will most likely be the thing that changes that. That said. *You need to be careful.* Microsoft laid off its entire AI ethics workforce prior to the announcement. If Microsoft is the company that leads our world towards the inclusion of AI into our every day lives, I want them to be the safest they can be, and it's not looking good. While we're hopping from tech giant to tech giant, Google to Microsoft, Mac to Windows, Zoom to Teams, we cannot let that cloud our judgement on these companies.

In the last few weeks I have returned to Microsoft Edge browser, I've been chatting to the AI, I've been writing on Word (online/365 version) and all through three devices (iphone, Huawei, and laptop/desktop) Even sending pictures between devices using The Browser Drop! Microsoft has covered SO MUCH ground in so many fields. And I'm not even a business guy, so I can imagine what people who use all the others experience!

You can call it a copilot or any other positively affirming words to buy into people. Will it help me do my job, yes! Yet, this tech is so disruptive and growing at such a rapid pace, I can’t imagine how many jobs will be lost to this! The fact is, a business owner sees a cheaper alternative to actually hiring 5 people to do a job, they’re going to go the cheaper alternative. Maybe hire 2 for the same job + the copilot. The other 3 are out. Keeping in mind that we’re only months in with this tech… give it a few years, it’s going to be human job skills vs ChatGPT job skills.

@@MustardGamings I’m a programmer and it’s definitely brain involving yet my concern is generalized for all IT jobs. One example of a job under threat is of a BI Analyst. Sure they can do their ETL tasks but report generation is really not needed once a VP/ executive has access to Copilot in say Power BI (also part of O365). They literally can create their own graphical charts. Minor tech skills maybe needed but its barely any actual tech skill. Totally true though, embracing it is the only way..

For us to be able to work more efficiently and do more each hour should in theory be good for everyone. More time over to take care of the elderly, the sick, kids and just leasure time. The problem is how we transition to a society where everyone doesn’t need to work 8 hours 5 days a week anymore
@joelface
@joelface Жыл бұрын
@@qaazz You're right. The rick get richer, the poor get poorer. Hasn't required AI for that to happen... it's the natural progression of capitalism. The promise of AI is that we can theoretically address inequality through social programs like Universal Basic Income, allowing people to spend more time with their family and friends, and have a better work-life balance. What if instead of hiring those 3 employees to do the work of what used to take 5, you could still have the 5 hired, and have them work fewer hours. Unfortunately, the tricky thing is those with the money and power at the top are great at finding ways not to pay extra. They keep ALL of the profits from the extra productivity. So the promise of a better life is there, but the reality is that unless we collectively find a way to force the rich to fund something like UBI, it just won't work.

Nice! But where is copilot (digital assistant) for the Windows? There should be a sidebar for it in the notification area for it. It should have the option to be always-on. It should have the speech to text and text to speech options (with different voices). It would be a huge omission if it is not included. Also no mention of image to text in the copilot? I think with the available technology, these could be easily integrated. Lets see, how Apple may do it.

This is dumbing down to a hilariously terrifying degree. Entrusting important data parsing and decision making to a chat bot is a terrible way forward. The error rate is far too high to blindly trust, and this will just ensure people are too lazy/stupid to realize they're getting bad data.

@@nickthaskater if a machine can be more intelligent than any human that ever existed, run 24/7, doesn’t have any emotional needs and can’t be overworked, has perfect memory, then it will be seen as irresponsible to let humans do any task other than plumbing. The day will come but maybe not some day soon. Technical limitations could be met with traditional computing but there’s always quantum computing. As far as data is concerned, you could feed the ai to all cameras in the world paired with robot vision, have a multi modal ai for memory writing, vision/auditory cataloguing, and the main crux of the model (for logical reasoning) and another for centralizing and balancing all the models together. We are talking with 100 years of advancement (if that given the pace that ai has been improving). That said, I would say many things would be lost in such a society. Technology has already taken away from people. Basic things such as privacy and societal connectedness, no reason to think, that the idea of every child growing up to “be something”, won’t go away too. What will people do in such a world, who knows. Maybe just become philosophers.
