The Mx Pro and Max SoC SKUs are all massive heavy metal-slab laptops with two giant fans. Thus is Qualcomm’s FIRST SKU with the Oryon CPU core(s) and is entirely aimed at slim and light form factor. There will be more coming.

Also, unless its hard to find, no mention on MS's website about which SKU they are talking about, happy to assume your guess is right. Id love to see these laptops in action, not just benchmarks. (Edit) buried in fine print they mention the elite & the plus. C10 & C12 i think, battery life & performance specs might be from different chips. I don't like when apple does weird charts & don't like when MS does it either.

Exactly, This happened with macs when they transitioned as well. It was so difficult to work with legacy softwares, or ones that require some legacy dependencies. They're promising better emulations this, let's see what reviews say!

Giving CoPilot control over settings, a way to view the screen, and potentially file-management makes it a vector of attack - an unpredictable one at that. I think these rapid developments are cool, but concerning. More care should be put into the integrity of the OS. There should be hardware and software levels of isolation between AI processes and the user space to allow an easy cut-off if an AI task takes actions that are damaging. I really think Microsoft is rushing things to remain competitive

Of course! You can turn off the Copilot button on the taskbar, install an older version of Windows that doesn't have Copilot, or try to hack Copilot out of your system. Now, you'll only be bothered by the Copilot key, which you can pry out, and the soldered NPU and Qualcomm chip.

When AMD's Ryzen processors came out, Intel had to cut prices and release affordable higher-core count CPUs to stay competitive. When AMD wasn't competitive, you had to pay $1000+ to get 6 or more core-count Intel CPUs.

yeah chrome is disaster on privacy. It runs multiple scripts in background (which usually spy on users browsing) consuming ram as much as photoshop

How long before NVidia comes out with a stand alone AI card for PC's. I'm sure the next GPU cards will have it on the boards but I wonder if they will have stand alone's for people that want more performance. Seems like a logical business case.

Hey, I just was wondering about that problem: I would love to have one of those Surface devices. Ultra mobile and really powerful AI integration. But I also want to work with Unreal Engine and other 3D Software. If I would connect an external RTX 5090 and put the Output onto up to 3 4K Monitors in my Office, that would be best of both worlds. This reminds me a bit of the usage of external audio interfaces and other pro audio hardware.
