That first minute pitch is just spot on mind blowing 💯
@renanboucard27299 ай бұрын
This first-minute pitch is kind of inaccurate. Literacy has been an effort led by the Church in medieval Western Europe, i.e. it was mandatory for a priest with more than 5 households in charge to organise education of children. On the contrary, productivists of the Enlightenment era and later industrial revolutions were indeed more keen in receiving labor for the fields rather than educated people. Big debate around this to be had... but M. Ng is not the only one with such misconceptions. However the talk is interesting for the conclusions it draws: AI is a new tool just like most others, and it needs to be harnessed by all sizes of businesses.

One, because pizza owners know how to make pizza and not write forecasting tools in Excel and two, the AI would generalize across different shifting menu items, predicting demand without having to reprogram the database. No one's asking why optimizing the number of pizzas cooked in a small shop is a big deal. No one's asking why finding defects in fabrics at a small T-shirt shop is a big deal. These are obviously huge deals foundational to a company's success no matter the size. The question I want to know is this: How many Friday nights being sold out of Mediterranean pizzas does the shop owner have to go through before they realize they should make more Mediterranean pizzas?? If they can't use HUMAN intelligence to figure this out, they don't need to lose more money on an expensive AI system. They need to close their business. But I can't imagine business owners are that unintelligent. And AI determining what ADS to show me has the most value according to your chart? You've got to be kidding me! Maybe it has the most value to a platform selling ad space, but it certainly doesn't help me. I am not a materialistic shopaholic. I only see AI hounding me and annoying me to buy something I already just recently bought. How utterly UNintelligent. I want AI to help ME find the best deal when I am actually ready to buy something. I haven't seen that well executed at all - probably because there's no money in it (I've been using Honey for 4+ years and haven't earned a single point). AI is all for the benefit of one side to negotiate better against another side. But so far, I've only seen it help the rich beat the poor, or snake oil salespeople sucker others.
