People laugh like crazy about hating this little car, but I have a fleet of 24 of them and my lowest mileage one has 74,216 miles on it, I just bought a 18000 mie CPO car with 4yr warrany for 9500. I have one in my garage with 193,553 miles on it, I have beat the shit out of thing, it just keeps running and running, synthetic oil, cruisng down the interstate at 80mph at 3800rpm and returning 36mpg at the same time, ... I did buy the factory cruise control for it though. Its a two door toyota. Get them before there dont exist any more. Btw Im 6"3', 240 lbs.

If you need a parking camera on a car that is as big as a child walker you really need to return your driver's license to authorities.

Agree! Blind spots or not, a good driver knows how long (or short) his/her car is. Every cardriver should be able to park his/her car without a backupcamera or radar no matter shape or size of the car! You use the mirrors and look out the window, not at a screen!

not true. this car is meant for inner city driving where parking spots are very tight. parking garages that have ridiculously small pull outs and pedestrians getting in the way. it's a safety thing.

I test drove a used Scion iQ on the Interstate yesterday and got 46mpg. I'm 6' 4" / 230lbs and had plenty of room. Fun to drive. No worries - EXCEPT - it does NOT come with a spare tire, jack or lug wrench. Instead there is a kit with a can of pressurized tire sealant and puncture patch to get you to a repair shop. (I owned a Scion xB, which at the time was rated the most reliable car sold in America. Do not expect the iQ to be the same quality as the xB. J.D. Powers gave it 2 stars out of 5, across the board.)

the toyota dealer loaned me one of these while the car was in for warranty service. It's fun to drive and has surprising leg room in the front. The only thing I didn't like is the road noise. There is zero sound insulation in the floor and on the highway the road noise roars through the cabin. Luckily, they put good stereos in Scions, so you can just crank up the music to drown it out.

Ahhh...this review was SO much more sensible than the disastrously incompetent review from Consumer Reports. CNET reviewed the car for what it is, not for what it isn't. And as such, it was helpful.

If he had gotten into the back seat to try it (for his review) he would have learned that a 6" 1 guy in the front and a 6' 1" guy in the back (passenger side) fit easily and comfortably. Behind the driver the room is less though and better suited for a child. I am really surprised by this car and really like it. Drives great in the city and on the highway. If this were a typical 3500 pound car the the horsepower to weight ratio would be a 153 hp car. Not a muscle car but not too bad either. And since this car is a city car it does just fine!

A car that truly makes no sense. Why pay $16k+ for this, when you can get Toyota's Yaris for under$14.5? Or a $13k Mitsubishi Mirage? Or a $12k Nissan Versa? And all the others have useable back seats and storage areas. I miss the old Scion xA - it was a lot better than this iQ. The xA was a much more useable car.

@jon368100 10 жыл бұрын
the lack of a 40 mpg highway figure is simply due to the rudimentary engine technology and the large negative space that happens at speed. larger sedans such as the Elantra, Corolla, 3, or even the 6 have elongated bodies and better real-world aerodynamics compared to this car. it's the same reason that the Mazda CX-5 can't match the 6's fuel economy even though they weigh generally the same.

I am actually driving a rental automatic Chevrolet Spark right now (I have been for a month now; I prefer to be driving a manual shift I feel it would feel better plus I love driving manual). I love how much I pay for a full tank of gas at $15.00-$18.00 at least every week or two (I like driving). I love parallel parking this car, great since it is tiny! The car is a compact fit when I first begin (I am a petite adult) which I did not like driving it but now I am use to it. The handling is comfortable. Now the speed is lacking, I like to speed from time to time, but once the car picks up to the desire speed it is a smooth ride. The 4 door exterior (silver color) and interior (either dark gray or black), works for the car but does not make it stand out other than its small size (which I had a compliment by a cashier while going through a Chick-fil-a drive thru, she mentioned what a cute car I want one.) It does have space along with a tiny trunk which I believe the back seats can fold down to make more room. The back doors' handles are located right at the top back of the window area, I do not like that because I couldn't find them at first, ha! I do like the dash driving set up lights, it features a display of miles per gallon which usually shows for me between 32.0-33.0. The one I am renting does not have a driving reverse monitor (if that is an extra you would like, but maybe it can be added through luxuries?). I suggest to research the car you want to make sure you really like what it offers and test drive it one day.

Waaaaw you Americans are DIF-FI-CULT on cars. 1.4 is not small in Europe. Nor is 100hp. :') Believe it or not people are driving 999cc cars in Europe and let me tell you a blazing success! Aygo/C1/107. You need to set the priorities on this car. This is obviously a person who is not going to drive a lot out of town nor will he transport a lot of items in his car. #SowWhatchaWhiningAbout ? Ow and really you want parking cameras, ... serious? How much driving do you Americans still do, how many manuals are there? The IQ is a great little car. I can only stimulate car makers to build their cars smarter and smaller. Americans seem to only buy bigger and bigger. Go to France or any other great European city you'll see a lot of these cars.

A ton of driving. I don't even think any "American" car companies even make manuals for the U.S. anymore, beside Ford with the focus, fiesta, etc. Manuals need to come back. So much more benefits than automatics.
