This was the most informative video I've come across on CNG powering of motor vehicles. I liked all the details on safety regulations and to know that the laws are coming around to normalize biofuel run cars. Now my question is getting the conversion for my pickup. Where does one start as I currently produce and clean out my own gas from a 30cubic size farm unit.?

the tank holds about 14 gge (gasoline gallon equivalent). so just multiply the GGE times your miles per gallon and there ya go!

David youre settings wont let me repply directly, but this type 3 tank weighs about 175 pounds empty I think. Add about 30-40 pounds when full of CNG. (Guessing).

You said it was 19 x 60. Mine is the same size but its only a 10 gge. I have got as much as 7 during the winter. Im thinking on double stacking the tanks to get more range. Granted mine is a diesel so it sucks the gas. My range is 50 miles per fill.

I am curious.. some vehicles offer a "cng prep" package, but as far as I can tell the Tundra did not. Are you able to safely run a CNG bi-fuel system in a vehicle that is not "prepped"?

thanks for the very information video. do type 3 actually hold more cng than type 4? I have read in several places where in some instances that is true. and do some type 3 or type 4 tanks by one manufacturer hold more than from another manufacturer. it seems like I read a time of two manufacturers boasting that they designed their tank in such a way and with technology that allowed it to hold a little more cng than an equivalent size tank from most other manufacturers. I am looking to get a 2009 thru 2012 civic cng but I would like the longest range possible (without adding an extra cng tank). so I may want to get another tank that is the identical size to the original cng tank that comes in the 2009 thru 2012 civic. so I am not sure the stock cng tank that comes with the civic will hold the most cng.

Is it dangerous at all? When refueling is it possible to overfill or do most ngvs have some kind of sensor to know if the tank is full?

The filling stations I have used all shut off when the tank is full. I'm not aware of any overfilling incidents.

DO NOT USE THIS VIDEO AS A GUIDELINE FOR PROPER/LEGAL TANK INSTALLATION! Not NFPA 52 compliant: 6mm coil tube that comes with imported kits. Missing grommet where the fuel line passes through the bed. Shut off valve sticker. (wrong colors and language) Fictional statements made: The information in the tank is required by Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards and the DOT, not the manufacturer. Stress loops are not required by law. There are 5 types of tanks not 4. Not all tanks are made with carbon fiber. You don't "lose one or two gallons" when filling up. Heated gas expands, which in turn reduces GGE amount of gas that fits into the tank @ 3600psi from a fast fill station. CSA is license is not required for tank inspection. License requirements from state to state.

Thanks for the comment!, but this is a simple introduction video. I don't think we ever said its a training video. You're correct that all tanks must be installed according to NFPA 52. If there is a type five tank that is USDOT approved then please paste a link, bc at the time of this video they weren't certified. Most states require a CSA cert for the mechanic to inspect tanks. FYI this truck has passed safety and emissions multiple times... But yeah that Cng cutoff sticker should have a white background and different verbiage.

your tank must be only 3000psi instead of 3600psi, which is the new standard. if not, then you have other problems i guess.
