Love finding these old clips. There really isn't much archival footage of open source in the 90s. In fact, getting old distros running in a VM is near impossible compared to Windows. I have Windows NT 3.1 running well in VirtualBox.

@@rockettaco Its actually supposed to be pronounced "Ga-nome". G as in GNU. I think its stupid though and I pronounce it "nome" but it is actually supposed to be pronounced "Ga-nome", according to the GNOME project.

Linux is better than Windows (this isn't cap), Linux is catching up fast in Gaming thanks to Proton and has a high 100% compatibility (if it's a fighting game it will probably run, maybe just not on day 1... but this is tot be expected of ANY game) Where linux is behind is down to software, yes alternatives exist but Gimp !=Photoshop, the closest thing to the adobe suite is the affinity suite (photo/desktop/publisher). Then you have gaming specific hardware like the elgato cards which don't work on linux sadly.. However elgato does follow streamers/steam so that will likely change, as for graphics design I would follow krita as thats a pretty awesome app but is lacking what affinity and adobe offer.. Google Docs have replaced Office for me and it's web based! I think within 5-10 years gamers will likely be running 1 of the 4 main lines of Linux distros, Debian, Arch, Suse, and Redhat. I didn't include gentoo because thats TOO experimental and time consuming, arch takes about the same amount of time as a normal windows install (once you memorize your hardware and the install process) Sure it may have taken 30 or 40 years to actually get there but windows is on it's last legs and even valve knew this.
