Anywhere can be a sad place to live, not just America. Homelessness is a worldwide problem, not just an American one. But, at least, someone in America is trying to help the homeless, which is more than can be said in many other places in the world.

not in the city you can't. It will be torn down, and many homeless are disabled or have mental illnesses and can't work normal jobs, so they stay in cities so they can go to free food places and survive. They can't have anything permanent, can't even set up a tent- whatever they have, they have to be able to pick up and move instantly, or the cops will take it away.

A vehicle needs to be developed that can deatach from living quarters. A TUK TUK motorhome is the best platform I have EVER seen. They are classified as motorcycles (CHEAP INSURANCE) easy on fuel doubles as a PU truck when the camper is securly docked (Easy Repair). Not the most stable platform they don't handle as well top speed maybe 45 but if you are pushing a cart or riding the bus this machine is ideal. Search tuk tuk motorhome there are 2 platforms class a and the truk style camper.

$500 dollars is a ridiculous price for the mobile tent. It is a good idea, but would have to keep the cost down. For that price they could be getting a bicycle with a pull cart that does the same thing, and one with a better lining for cold nights.

fantastic. As a disabled person with limited funds i am building myself something similar that i can tow behind my bike. I could never afford a home let alone a vacation home. Its nice to see your efforts to help with the homeless. Hopefully if they come into play one day they won't be the accepted "NORM" like food banks. the intention of food banks was a temporary solution until society came up with a solution. Spending money on people who are down and out or disadvantaged in terms of finances, education, disability are not progressive answers rather "conservative values"; Greed and self interest even if it means more suffering to someone else and not yourself. Homelessness would not be so taxing on the human soul if it weren't for every government agency and municipalities treating it as a damn crime! The homeless can't sleep in parks or in cars. They can't panhandle or dig through another's trash for throw aways. There aren't free public showers and libraries are increasingly driving them and their buggies of belongings away. Is it any wonder the homeless turn to drugs to cope with their miserable lives? We don't need a bunch of dot orgs or shelters. We just need for public policy to stay to butt out! Make public and private resources that are not needed available for private citizens who can use them out on the streets.

Otter Wahn Sorry, but I don't see this as a problem with capitalism. Capitalism as a means to get rich works. But remembering that money is a tool a means to an end is a whole different ball of wax. I see this as a cultural and social problem. We treat the homeless as criminals because we are trying to legislate away the symptoms of homelessness which are in and of themselves problematic eyesores. Instead of treating the symptoms of homelessness we need to be treating the causes. Things like education, a living wage, inflation, corporate welfare, affordable housing are routinely ignored and as a consequence so are the homeless.

It's encouraging that there are more and more possible solutions to help the homeless. Hopefully these will not be slashed by police with boxcutters as is so common nowadays. The policy seems to be that if you harass the homeless that they will somehow miraculously find homes and NONEXISTENT jobs to pay for them.

This person is just one of millions of homeless families and the world is really going astray, we humans who do not even have mercy on our fellow human beings, why should God have mercy on us? . Instead of crying and pretending to be a loved one, let 's educate ourselves with our income and raise our level of thinking to a global level to shout out to the embarrassed global community. Let's show our protest with a few tweets every day, with a few simple messages, so that little by little, these protests will be added and the international community will think about a fundamental change in its path. We can help big campaigns to fight homelessness with big tweets. We can take care of the homeless, help them find jobs, help educate them, with a few tweets. We, who live comfortably in our homes, live comfortably in warm weather, owe at least this to them.

@mytuber81 There are many reasons why people become homeless and there are a lot of programs out there to educate already. He also says that "we'll build more shelters and then we won't need edars" pointing out that it is a temporary solution to a big problem. All humans should be entitled to some sort of shelter from the elements just because they're human. It's greed and money that drives this country and that is our downfall...the weak are the ones who suffer the consequences.

No city will allow people places to use these. It is a real issue that is so simple to implement but a not in my neborhood mentally. It's simple but no profit in it for those city officials. If I had money I would donate as much land as I could to help develop a place for our less fortunate homeless human population. Sure some of the homeless deserve the hell they live in but the majority of homeless I've met are forced into it by loss of jobs, low pay rates , high housing costs, not enough credit and too many real reasons that are simply due to the economy.
