THE GOVERNMENT SAID THEY ARE PUTTING THIS INFO OUT HERE "IN CASE RUSSIA GOES AHEAD AND USES THIS AS AN EXCUSE TO ATTACK UKRAINE!!" NOT UNLIKE tRUMP, THE LYING, CORRUPT, VLADIMIR PUTIN, WOULD DO THIS!! BIDEN'S PEOPLE NEVER SAID RUSSIA WAS DOING THIS, BUT THAT THEY MIGHT!!
@trekre12 жыл бұрын
While that's absolutely true, if you're told that you're being provided classified information then it should be obvious that you're not going to get more details about the source. If providing those details compromises the source then they're obviously not going to give them to you. Is it ideal? No. Obviously not, but the alternative is not being provided the information at all. People can choose to believe what they're told or not. It's very much dependent on trust. If you're writing an article then your source is whichever state department official provided you the information and you should note that the state department claims the information was obtained from classified sources. This isn't some now scheme to lie. It's just how has to work out of necessity. It's always been this way with classified information. You either accept some information that depends on trust or you receive none at all.
@Darkanthonyzero42 жыл бұрын
The information has been declassified obviously they have to provide it. The reporter is asking a simple request because he doesn’t want hearsay. He needs the evidence so these officials can be held accountable if something is not accurate. The fact that they get defensive and treat reporters like idiots, is enough tell you that the value of credibility is being lost.
@alexanderbrambila82742 жыл бұрын
You know while their at it they should ask for the nuclear launch codes. How do we know they have them if they don't tell us what they are? Let's just give out every state secret because that's what normal people ask. I get that asking for information in necessary but acting out in such a way doesn't help

The reporter simply asked what the evidence is. That’s pretty straight forward. The official claims there’s evidence but refuses to answer the reporters question. The official stated himself that it was “de-classified,” so he can’t claim “security” as to why he refuses to give the evidence. Saying there’s evidence, isn’t evidence. The official was just throwing out a word salad to avoid answering.

The reporter made it about himself, interviewers are supposed to let their subjects speak. Come back with follow-ups, yes, but that was ridiculous As you can see, my focus isn't even on whether or not US Intelligence actually has evidence of this alleged Russian fake-actors plot. My focus is on this damn arrogant reporter. That's my point, it's a disservice
@nikolaizaicev92972 жыл бұрын
@@PaperRaines I don't agree with you on that. The task of a journalist to find out the truth, and in order to do that he needs to suspect everyone and anything if he has reasons to do so. If he attacked his persona, I would agree, that would have nothing to do with the facts. But he just asked questions, nothing more. With interruption or without, that doesn't change the simple fact that they have no evidences to show. One should ask himself, why these evidences were not sent to UN for example? That is the procedure for such stations by the way, and we would not have needed to judge then, who interrupted whom, etc. The basic fact that they didn't even done that, gives a legitimate right to suspect them of lying to any journalist.

AP Reporter Matt Lee got the answer he asked for in the level of specificity that he was legally allowed to receive; and, no more. That's how it works with sensitive intelligence matters. Asked, answered, move on Matt...Now, if it subsequently turns out we've been lied to on this matter, by all means, hammer away. That's your job. Hectoring a State Dept. spokesman beyond his remit is NOT....It's unprofessional ineffectual grandstanding and it encourages the belief that the public should have less trust and confidence in the Fourth Estate's ability to serve the truth and keep the public informed. You need to watch the coverage of events from both sides, the truth will be in the middle. For example, I use logic to find the truth. For example, the fact that Ukraine is completely dependent on Russia suggests that the White House is lying about the Russian invasion. Russia provides Ukraine with electricity, coal for heating, gasoline, and food. If Russia stops these supplies, then Ukrainians will die of cold and hunger. No aggressor will provide for the one he intends to conquer in such a way.

Cnn is only in it for the ratings not the news. I remember their reporting on Bush's war in iraq. On CNN in September 2002, National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice claimed that aluminum tubes purchased by Iraq were “only really suited for nuclear weapons programs.” This was precisely the opposite of what nuclear experts at the Energy Department were saying; they argued that not only was it very possible the tubes were for nonnuclear purposes but that it was very likely they were too. Even more dire assessments about the tubes from other agencies were exaggerated by administration officials - and in any case, the claim that they’re “only really suited” for nuclear weapons is just false.

There's nothing unreasonable with this reporter pushing the issue. This is a pretty extreme and way-out-there claim, so they should fully comprehended the extraordinary need to provide something to back up its legitimacy, in the same session as they made these claims public. It needs to be backed up by way more than "trust me bro", and the public getting that info should not be a pulling-teeth struggle. Certaintly not when they tell us it has already been declassified. Meaning they already made the safety/risk assessment of making the information public, and decided direct publication was safe (enough). Suggesting the reporter does not understand "deterrance" is not only rude and unprofessional, it also has f all to do with the question. This is an extremely serious, tense and dangerous situation. It is not the time to play stupid games and deflect fair and reasonable questions. If they _can't_ back it up publicly, then don't make such claims public. It severely harm their credibility and transparency at a time when the American people, and the world at large, really need crystal clear information to the fullest extent possible.
