Imagine all the things you would try to do starting now if you were told you had 6 months to live, now realize you can still do those now if you wanted, why wait? This life is suppose to be a sacrifice to God, it is not ours to take. If we get sick and are in pain, we should know to endure it for only a little while longer, for heaven is eternity and this life is but a vapor. Eternity is like a 100 years for every grain of sand on a sea coast. God allows sickness to fall upon people because we have allowed sin into the world. For not one is good, no not one, thus sayith the Lord. Even for those who have been born again and repented and turned from there sin, still will be punished for our sins for our God is a just God. And if you are overcome with an illness, you are to love him and trust in him until he takes you. The Holy Spirit is not in those who think they can do things there way and without God.

Debmalya Chatterjee Dignity in death in this sense refers also to the time leading up to death. A lot of people lose bladder and bowel control through disease or aging and need enormous amounts of care. People that die from some diseases do not do so as peacefully as they would like. If they are able to choose the time and cause of death than they can gather loved ones and family around them for a final goodbye. Perhaps enjoy a glass of wine, eat some chocolate. That sort of thing. Or just thanks those around them and express their wishes before they pass. That is their meaning also of death with dignity.

He knew that there was no treatment and didn't want to go through it. Hospice was in and out and his children, my youngest son, myself, my husband, and friends took turns spending the days with him. It was extremely heartbreaking to see him become a shell of the man he was. He and his wife passed at home they way they wanted. I miss them every single day.

I went with him and his children to the doctor for his visit to the oncologist. When the doctor heard that all 3 had glioblastoma, she had many questions. The one I remember most was when she asked if any of them lived 'near a tire factory'! It's our whole environment that causes a lot of it. It is scary. God bless you and stay well!

She didn't choose to die. Her body is dieing. She is choosing to leave with no pain, no more deterioration of herself. She is choosing to die with her family at home where it feels more calm and less stressing like hospitals do. She will have music, which most hospitals refuse to do. She will go with peace of mind as she is the one who took time to decide how and when to go. She has time to say goodbye and there will be no regret since she is the angel who traced her own path on how to go and when. She is dieing, her buddy is shutting down and she has full conscience of it all too. So please understand that her choice is hers. I know it is hard to understand but when your body is shutting down...we all know that...this is the beginning of the suffering...and deterioration... The best is to look inside of yourself and ask yourself...what would you do if the only path you would have left is suffering and deterioration and loss of yourself along the way.... Keep it in mind and have compassion for those like her... Love, understanding,. compassion, respect and good vibes is what makes this world better and it is what these people need from you all...

Vibes to me equal nothing. Yes a diagnosis like hers is awful, suffering and pain awful. As a Christian you believes in God, and He is the creator of life and he decides when life ends. No judgement, just sad that the spiritual part of her being was left out. Probably hard for many to understand.

Unless you have personally suffered the pain from cancer you can't understand what a person is going thru. I had indescribable pain for 12 months and looked 9 month pregnant with all the symptoms of bowel cancer but for those 12 months doctors told me I was too young (I was 26) and the wrong sex to have bowel cancer and was just constipated......seriously? You know your own body and I fought them tooth and nail to open me up to find out why I was in so much pain. Eventually they did and found a tumour that was 5 by 5 cm and was told if they HADN'T operated I would have been dead in 6 months. Luckily I'm in remission and I'm now 44 but if I'd been in the same situation as Brittany I too would have looked at end of life options. Nobody should judge others on their beliefs especially if they are doing what they feel is right for them. Why die in excruciating pain when you can go peacefully, pain free and with above all else, dignity.

Yes, my husband was diagosed in 2004 with stage four kung cancer. He tried treatment and frankly if we had known then what l know now, we would have chosen different treatment. He chose to stop eating and in 6 comfortable hospice helped days, he was gone. Pain control is way different than it used to be. We are believers and he was humble before God, and when he was no longer hungry or thirsty, he didn't try to prolong his time. He "endured to the end" as the commandment says, and as Christ did. Finally, l have to say, taking care of three people who were dying, first my mom, then my dad, then my husband has taught me a lot. They were all humble who turned it all over to God in full faith, they were all kind, made amends with any hurts or bad feelings and showed gratitude for the smallest things. I learned when l was at the end of my rope, miracles happened and l rose way past my own abilities, l felt l was lifted up by Heavens helpers. It changed us all.

We can judge her actions as wrong and we have every right to. It is revealed truth by Jesus Christ that we die and are judged. He warned extensively about hell. Even if she were not condemned to hell she could be in purgatory now suffering much more than the 6 months of suffereing she avoided by death. Recall what Jesus said of Judas who despaired and took his own life, "Better for that man had he never been born." Judas made a "personal decision" to hang himself. The result of that decision was likely eternal torment. People need to stop being fools by thinking that the universe bends to our whims...that because we say something is ok, it is. Doesn't work that way. We are judged according to objective truth.

We (in the US) are so proud, and we bang on our chest, screaming land of the free, home of the brave. This is the biggest freedom of them all. Anyone should be able to go to sleep for the final time, when they want. Especially if they are ill. God Bless this family!

I finally stopped buying that land of the free propaganda years ago..there are many countries other than US that are free. US just likes telling everyone how GREAT they are n how every country needs to do what US tells them too! In other countries this family probably wouldn't have even had to move.

@Carpe and all the rest I would say smart, it's not worth it to endure agony, every day something happens for the worse, the body starts to shut down in many curious ways, pain increases, breathing changes, bedsores...and you don't want to go through that.

I support her decision 100% after watching someone I loved die wile mouthing "help me," while on morphine and anti-anxiety meds in hospice care. I had no ability to help other than to advocate for stronger medications, and to personally try and comfort that individual with kind words, gentle touch, prayer, and song, etc. I am forever changed by my loved one's agonizing, prolonged, seemingly torturous death.

@Jennifer Yearwood Wow you're stupid! (1) a terminal patient doesn't have to worry about buying drugs on a street corner & (2) my husband has spent months at a time on morphine, Dilaudid, Fentanyl, you name it and he has never become addicted. You're just one of those fanatics that run around screaming "the sky is falling, the sky is falling " yet have no idea what they're talking about. Stop buying into the lies you're hearing on TV and educate yourself.

Even if God would not have healed her, her soul was VERY IMPORTANT. Those that die without Christ will end in Hell. Sad that none of her loved ones did seek Salvation. Revelations 20:10-15 NKJV. The one that invented that killing pill will have to give account to God because God gives and takes life. Men want to be God. If someone dying ask you for help desperately is because the angel of death is there presently ready to take that soul. The difference with a Christian that has walked on the right path with Jesus, God and the Holy Spirit they are joyful because they know that heaven is where they will be spending eternity. God knows the future so if he does not heal is because if you stay longer you would eventually have left his path, God knows our future. I had a cousin that she was sharing the word and praising the Lord till she passed away, she looked so peaceful healthy, praise the Lord, never complained nor ask why me. That is dignity.

@@mariahidalgo2840 "The difference with a Christian that has walked on the right path with Jesus, God and the Holy Spirit they are joyful because they know that heaven is where they will be spending eternity." Wrong- theists have been known to express extreme fear on their deathbed of going to hell simply because they believe they have *not been pious enough;* I have never known of an Atheist to fear death because of a belief of not being Atheist enough.

My mother had breast cancer that spread to her brain and at 9 years old I use to pray to God to just take her back to so she didn’t have to die like that. My mother was is in excruciating pain every second of the day and most of the things she could take made it impossible for her to spend what time she had left with me. The amount of suffering has permanently scarred myself and my father til this day and I am now 32. I would have much rather my mother have been able to control how she passed on and passed unafraid and not in pain. I pray for your remission, but cancer being aggressive does not mean terminal. The only miracle anyone can hope for, for someone who is terminally I’ll, is that God grant them mercy and allow them to pass on without fear, pain, or the inability to even be able to have their last moments to be happy ones with their families. A prolonged fight with terminal cancer robbed my mother and my family of that peace

For those religious people saying this is suicidal, my question is, isn’t better to cut off life to avoid so much pain and suffering from an illness? I mean, don’t you guys believe of a better life after death?…
@jawant60392 жыл бұрын
I think religious tales calling suicide a sin were just being used to scare people into staying in a war or doing some other shit in ancient times that would have made a sane person want to end their life.

Those judging have never seen someone die of cancer. It's slow, painful, and is horrible to see any human go through. My grandpa, once a strong man who was in the 82nd air-born serving in two wars, was now a weak fragile man. My grandpa's skin was gray and he was so skinny you could see every bone in his body. He was weak, confused, and not the same man I called grandpa. He couldn't speak or eat. He was in so much pain and discomfort. He spent weeks in the hospital praying to just make it to see spring on last time. He never made it out of that hospital room, never got to experience the warmth of spring one last time. This woman is obviously waiting to take this pill when she reaches a point of complete suffering. My grandpa didn't deserve a death like that, no one does. She can have her loved one's last memory of her one that isn't like how I remember my grandpa.

I have rapid dementia in my 33. Feel free to imagine my end stages. If something so horrible exists why should i sacrifice myself for this life which created this suffering. Life ,however glorious is stained and denied by these realities. People kill themselves because they want to live, but is life really worth it when we know this?is this imperfect life really worth me mourning killing and myself for it ? I will suffer this wretched disease to the bitter end. I will try at least...
