Why is it merciful and sympathetic to put down a suffering pet, but when it’s a suffering human it’s “murder” or “suicide”?

@ً no they are not. They are just as wortg. Because they are life in the universe. What makes a human life more worth than animals? What makes 1human life out of 7 billion more worth than 1 rhino life out of under a thousand?
@shadowilderness364

@ً that wasn't at all my point. My point was; what make a human more worthy than an animal? You said we are more useful, to whom? To us only. Humans are more worthy to other humans, but to nothing else. And even worth within humans are self-centered. Who is more worthy; your mother, or a president? How do you define worthiness in humans?

I think it’s important to watch videos like this every once in awhile to realize that you shouldnt be taking life for granted, it is not infinite. Imagine all the things you would try to do starting now if you were told you had 6 months to live, now realize you can still do those now if you wanted, why wait? Infact, think of the things you’ll probably never even do because you put it off. Basically you never know, so make everyday great and realize everyday is something special no matter how big or small!

This life is suppose to be a sacrifice to God, it is not ours to take. If we get sick and are in pain, we should know to endure it for only a little while longer, for heaven is eternity and this life is but a vapor. Eternity is like a 100 years for every grain of sand on a sea coast. God allows sickness to fall upon people because we have allowed sin into the world. For not one is good, no not one, thus sayith the Lord. Even for those who have been born again and repented and turned from there sin, still will be punished for our sins for our God is a just God. And if you are overcome with an illness, you are to love him and trust in him until he takes you. The Holy Spirit is not in those who think they can do things there way and without God.

Debmalya Chatterjee Dignity in death in this sense refers also to the time leading up to death. A lot of people lose bladder and bowel control through disease or aging and need enormous amounts of care. People that die from some diseases do not do so as peacefully as they would like. If they are able to choose the time and cause of death than they can gather loved ones and family around them for a final goodbye. Perhaps enjoy a glass of wine, eat some chocolate. That sort of thing. Or just thanks those around them and express their wishes before they pass. That is their meaning also of death with dignity.

My cousin was terminally ill and chose assisted suicide in Oregon. His family supported his decision to die on a day he chose, in a place he chose, with the people he chose and the dignity he needed after a lifetime of illness and dependence on others. He didn’t get to choose much about his life, but he did get to make the final and most important decision. We should all be so lucky.

@@EmmaWa-fe6qq Lou Gehrig’s disease. Can’t remember the official name of it right now. He was ready to die when he got to the point that one of his thumbs was the only part of his body he could move anymore. It’s a hideous disease. He was in his fifties but had suffered for decades. He had to move to Oregon 6 months prior to his assisted death in order to be considered a resident so it would be legal. His sister had died only months earlier by suicide from hanging herself so it was pretty amazing of my aunt to be supportive of him while still grieving the loss of her daughter.

It also gives family and loved ones some time to come to terms, and be with the person. There is no long drawn out suffering, often in stressed hospital environments. Its a very brave decision, but from also being a nurse I can understand. Life is precious, but not on any terms which means unbearable pain, confusion and anguish. For terminal cancer, neurological conditions , especially MND, there is no hope.

Some of us are apparently unlucky and God instead wants us to die in horrendous agony from cancer, so no I don't think he blesses us with that. Maybe he will bless you like that someday and you can carry out his will to the end as you see it. Also with no serious medical intervention, because some would read the bible and argue that we shouldn't use modern medical tech to prolong life and intervene with God's plan. Right? so easy for me to say but you answer has contained in your answer. The option that God offers her a cure is it! He does. There are many people who have chosen not to die but to live. Yes it may be a fight but it may not be Gods will for her to go yet. I really dont believe that God leaves us in the dark. Saying that, my lovely cousin, the mother of three girls lost her battle recently with cancer. She believed. So what is it that we are missing. Joel Osteens Mum was diagnosed with cancer years a go and she decided that she wouldnt die. She is still alive. Dodie Osteen. So maybe its not her time but she has chosen to die. The humn body is an amazing machine which mal functions at times. If it wasnt for the caring medical profession then a lot of us wouldnt be here today. Think about it???? Yes we do choose and there is no condemnation on this lovely lady for that, but maybe there is a better way????

I was a vet nurse for 25 years. In that time i euthansed alot of animals. As hard as it was its the nicest way to stop suffering. We should have a choice. It is our right. My father had dementia and a fractured back. It hurt to see him decline from an amazing man who retired from the RAF. He died at home, and was given pain relief and a sedative. We played music. We all got to say goodbye. He was pain-free. Sedated in his last days he looked the most rested he had ever looked. It wasn't euthanasia but he was at home. Why can we not treat everyone with the same love and respect. What a brave girl and what an amazing family x

My dear sister-in-law died from the same cancer, and she was so debilitated and sad. My precious brother took her out of hospice, brought her home and took amazing care of her. Hospice came ever so often, but he did all of her personal care...bathing, dressing, changing, and feeding her as he spent So much time encouraging her to eat. It was amazing to see. She wouldn't have lasted that long in the hospice, but inevitably she passed. Unbelievably, just a very few years later, he was diagnosed with the same kind of brain tumor. He knew that there was no treatment and didn't want to go through it. Hospice was in and out and his children, my youngest son, myself, my husband, and friends took turns spending the days with him. It was extremely heartbreaking to see him become a shell of the man he was. He and his wife passed at home they way they wanted. I miss them every single day.

She didn't choose to die. Her body is dieing. She is choosing to leave with no pain, no more deterioration of herself. She is choosing to die with her family at home where it feels more calm and less stressing like hospitals do. She will have music, which most hospitals refuse to do. She will go with peace of mind as she is the one who took time to decide how and when to go. She has time to say goodbye and there will be no regret since she is the angel who traced her own path on how to go and when. She is dieing, her buddy is shutting down and she has full conscience of it all too. So please understand that her choice is hers. I know it is hard to understand but when your body is shutting down...we all know that...this is the beginning of the suffering...and deterioration... The best is to look inside of yourself and ask yourself...what would you do if the only path you would have left is suffering and deterioration and loss of yourself along the way.... Keep it in mind and have compassion for those like her... Love, understanding,. compassion, respect and good vibes is what makes this world better and it is what these people need from you all...

Unless you have personally suffered the pain from cancer you can't understand what a person is going thru. I had indescribable pain for 12 months and looked 9 month pregnant with all the symptoms of bowel cancer but for those 12 months doctors told me I was too young (I was 26) and the wrong sex to have bowel cancer and was just constipated......seriously? You know your own body and I fought them tooth and nail to open me up to find out why I was in so much pain. Eventually they did and found a tumour that was 5 by 5 cm and was told if they HADN'T operated I would have been dead in 6 months. Luckily I'm in remission and I'm now 44 but if I'd been in the same situation as Brittany I too would have looked at end of life options. Nobody should judge others on their beliefs especially if they are doing what they feel is right for them. Why die in excruciating pain when you can go peacefully, pain free and with above all else, dignity.

Yes, my husband was diagosed in 2004 with stage four kung cancer. He tried treatment and frankly if we had known then what l know now, we would have chosen different treatment. He chose to stop eating and in 6 comfortable hospice helped days, he was gone. Pain control is way different than it used to be. We are believers and he was humble before God, and when he was no longer hungry or thirsty, he didn't try to prolong his time. He "endured to the end" as the commandment says, and as Christ did. Finally, l have to say, taking care of three people who were dying, first my mom, then my dad, then my husband has taught me a lot. They were all humble who turned it all over to God in full faith, they were all kind, made amends with any hurts or bad feelings and showed gratitude for the smallest things. I learned when l was at the end of my rope, miracles happened and l rose way past my own abilities, l felt l was lifted up by Heavens helpers. It changed us all.

Noone has the right to judge this young beautiful woman, or deem her any less of a person for making this decision. I personally think she is a brave woman. She had a 6 months diagnosis, and chose not to suffer with it at the end, as her husband stated in another interview, within 5 minutes, she was in a sleep like coma, and slowly drifted and passed away. It was pain free, and no suffering for her and her family. NOONE has any right to judge, or point hate in her direction. She has a legacy and has changed laws, infact encouraged the law to be changed in Canada which has now changed.

We can judge her actions as wrong and we have every right to. It is revealed truth by Jesus Christ that we die and are judged. He warned extensively about hell. Even if she were not condemned to hell she could be in purgatory now suffering much more than the 6 months of suffereing she avoided by death. Recall what Jesus said of Judas who despaired and took his own life, "Better for that man had he never been born." Judas made a "personal decision" to hang himself. The result of that decision was likely eternal torment. People need to stop being fools by thinking that the universe bends to our whims...that because we say something is ok, it is. Doesn't work that way. We are judged according to objective truth.

God knows my suffering too but I cannot take my life. I will take this temporary suffering. God is not cruel or ruthless. Suffering and death came to the world through the sin of man. If I stay alive then I can help reduce other people's suffering. If I kill myself I may suffer eternally in hell. I'd rather just suffer temporarily than eternally. Hell is real.

Im chronically ill, and we all have a right to die w dignity. We also have a right to die peacefully. It is just cruel to make anyone suffer, Im also so disgusted & tired of twisted religious views trying to dictate laws so that we suffer instead of making decisions about our own life & health. Another thing, so if someone had severe mental illness, they need to suffer their whole life through that too? Sorry, the self-righteousness of others to think you have a right to dictate to us what to do w our own lives is absolutely deplorable. You don't walk in their shoes, nor do you have to live through their pain and suffering.

30 years ago I was told to go home and prepare to die from congestive heart failure at 31 years old put on a transplant list but told it takes an average of 18 months and I had a few weeks. I did refuse to sit and wait to die and researched my condition, etc and kept doing things I liked to do, even though they could cause internal bleeding because of blood thinners. I never needed that transplant and now have normal heart function. But, if I had a terminal, painful, debilitating disease, I would choose what this young lady chose.

My Mom had Alzheimer's...her brain slowly died, but she was physically well, and seemed content (smiling when smiled at, or when people approached her, etc). I was feeling that the disease was a kind one (for HER, not for us). Horribly, the end usually co as when they forget how to swallow...so she died over 7 excruciating days from dehydration. The hospital swabbed her mouth, but did not prolong her "life" with liquids. It was awful. She looked like the screaming mummy at the end. I can't get that image out of my head. I LOVED my mom enormously...that was not her...and it certainly wasn't humane or dignified.

Even if God would not have healed her, her soul was VERY IMPORTANT. Those that die without Christ will end in Hell. Sad that none of her loved ones did seek Salvation. Revelations 20:10-15 NKJV. The one that invented that killing pill will have to give account to God because God gives and takes life. Men want to be God. If someone dying ask you for help desperately is because the angel of death is there presently ready to take that soul. The difference with a Christian that has walked on the right path with Jesus, God and the Holy Spirit they are joyful because they know that heaven is where they will be spending eternity. God knows the future so if he does not heal is because if you stay longer you would eventually have left his path, God knows our future. I had a cousin that she was sharing the word and praising the Lord till she passed away, she looked so peaceful healthy, praise the Lord, never complained nor ask why me. That is dignity.

My mother had breast cancer that spread to her brain and at 9 years old I use to pray to God to just take her back to so she didn’t have to die like that. My mother was is in excruciating pain every second of the day and most of the things she could take made it impossible for her to spend what time she had left with me. The amount of suffering has permanently scarred myself and my father til this day and I am now 32. I would have much rather my mother have been able to control how she passed on and passed unafraid and not in pain. I pray for your remission, but cancer being aggressive does not mean terminal. The only miracle anyone can hope for, for someone who is terminally I’ll, is that God grant them mercy and allow them to pass on without fear, pain, or the inability to even be able to have their last moments to be happy ones with their families. A prolonged fight with terminal cancer robbed my mother and my family of that peace

Those judging have never seen someone die of cancer. It's slow, painful, and is horrible to see any human go through. My grandpa, once a strong man who was in the 82nd air-born serving in two wars, was now a weak fragile man. My grandpa's skin was gray and he was so skinny you could see every bone in his body. He was weak, confused, and not the same man I called grandpa. He couldn't speak or eat. He was in so much pain and discomfort. He spent weeks in the hospital praying to just make it to see spring on last time. He never made it out of that hospital room, never got to experience the warmth of spring one last time. This woman is obviously waiting to take this pill when she reaches a point of complete suffering. My grandpa didn't deserve a death like that, no one does. She can have her loved one's last memory of her one that isn't like how I remember my grandpa.
