it's usually not a choice that is made overnight, it's a choice that can take years and usually an entire childhood to develop. the developmental environment has a massive impact on children and adolescents/teens and not always but much of the time people of homosexual orientation came from childhoods that were in some form abnormal pertaining usually to psychological abuse, physical abuse or both. I have observed it, read about it and have been told about it by people that lived it. And that might not seem on the surface to be a choice because it is a gradual psychological change over often substantial amounts of time. It is a choice because it was not a condition they were born with but a factor of their environment and how they responded to it. For example there are many people that have equally had traumatic upbringings but are not homosexual. Humans are born predisposed to their natural gender role but can have that natural circuitry rewired.

What does the Bible say about homosexuality? In some people’s minds, being homosexual is as much outside one’s control as the color of your skin and your height. On the other hand, the Bible clearly and consistently declares that homosexual activity is a sin (Genesis 19:1-13; Leviticus 18:22; 20:13; Romans 1:26-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9; 1 Timothy 1:10). This disconnect leads to much controversy, debate, and even hostility. When examining what the Bible says about homosexuality, it is important to distinguish between homosexual behavior and homosexual inclinations or attractions. It is the difference between active sin and the passive condition of being tempted. Homosexual behavior is sinful, but the Bible never says it is a sin to be tempted. Simply stated, a struggle with temptation may lead to sin, but the struggle itself is not a sin. Romans 1:26-27 teaches that homosexuality is a result of denying and disobeying God. When people continue in sin and unbelief, God “gives them over” to even more wicked and depraved sin to show them the futility and hopelessness of life apart from God. One of the fruits of rebellion against God is homosexuality. First Corinthians 6:9 proclaims that those who practice homosexuality, and therefore transgress God’s created order, are not saved. A person may be born with a greater susceptibility to homosexuality, just as some people are born with a tendency to violence and other sins. That does not excuse the person’s choosing to sin by giving in to sinful desires. Just because a person is born with a greater susceptibility to fits of rage, that doesn’t make it right for him to give in to those desires and explode at every provocation. The same is true with a susceptibility to homosexuality. No matter our proclivities or attractions, we cannot continue to define ourselves by the very sins that crucified Jesus-and at the same time assume we are right with God. Paul lists many of the sins that the Corinthians once practiced (homosexuality is on the list). But in 1 Corinthians 6:11, he reminds them, “That is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God” (emphasis added). In other words, some of the Corinthians, before they were saved, lived homosexual lifestyles; but no sin is too great for the cleansing power of Jesus. Once cleansed, we are no longer defined by sin. The problem with homosexual attraction is that it is an attraction to something God has forbidden, and any desire for something sinful ultimately has its roots in sin. The pervasive nature of sin causes us to see the world and our own actions through a warped perspective. Our thoughts, desires, and dispositions are all affected. So, homosexual attraction does not always result in active, willful sin-there may not be a conscious choice to sin-but it springs from the sinful nature. Same-sex attraction is always, on some basic level, an expression of the fallen nature. As sinful human beings living in a sinful world (Romans 3:23), we are beset with weaknesses, temptations, and inducements to sin. Our world is filled with lures and entrapments, including the enticement to practice homosexuality. The temptation to engage in homosexual behavior is very real to many. Those who struggle with homosexual attraction often report suffering through years of wishing things were different. People may not always be able to control how or what they feel, but they can control what they do with those feelings (1 Peter 1:5-8). We all have the responsibility to resist temptation (Ephesians 6:13). We must all be transformed by the renewing of our minds (Romans 12:2). We must all “walk by the Spirit” so as not to “gratify the desires of the flesh” (Galatians 5:16). Finally, the Bible does not describe homosexuality as a “greater” sin than any other. All sin is offensive to God. Without Christ, we are lost, whatever type of sin has entangled us. According to the Bible, God’s forgiveness is available to the homosexual just as it is to the adulterer, idol worshiper, murderer, and thief. God promises the strength for victory over sin, including homosexuality, to all those who will believe in Jesus Christ for their salvation (1 Corinthians 6:11; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Philippians 4:13).

@metoo33423 жыл бұрын
@Mo a It's exactly the same. People don't choose their color or sexuality. People don't magically become gay in prison just like their skin color doesn't magically change.
@metoo33423 жыл бұрын
@Mo a No it's not. Talk to actual gay people and they will clearly tell you it's not a choice. Not everyone is the same and sometimes sexuality takes a while to fully solidify in some people but you can't choose it. By that logic being straight is a choice but whenever someone asks a straight person to choose to be attracted to gay people they somehow can't. Experimenting to figure out who you're actually attracted too isn't the same as choosing.
@liamthiercelin43553 жыл бұрын
@Mo a Unfortunately it doesn't work this way at all. Ethnicity does not require experimenting, nor is a choice, because it depends on your lineage. This is not the case with sexual orientation. It depends on nothing we know of. Gay people are gay, bi people are bi, that's all. This doesn't mean this is a choice. The only way the education influences the sexual orientation is if the kid is taught that being gay is a sin or whatever religious shit, then they will be more likely to repress their sexual orientation and live hidden. Being straight is backed by science as much as being gay is, or any sexual behaviour. One, it happens, so it is natural. Two, same-sex intercourse and parenting for that matter has been observed in many animal species. Experimenting is far different from chosing. When you experiment you try several options to see which one ou like better. That doesn't mean you hate them all, that doesn't mean you like them all. That means that there is one or several of them that fit you. It's not a menu in a restaurant. Straight people know they are straight, yet they sometimes experiment with people of the same sex. You cannot choose your ethnicity, nor can you choose your sexual orientation. Saying sexual orientation is a choice is blatantly homophobic, because it denies LGBTQ+ people their identity as human beings, and puts the blame on them for decades of oppression. Believe me, if it was a choice there would be far fewer gay people given the fear and prejudices that Carson and other jerks disseminate in the society.
@liamthiercelin43553 жыл бұрын
If you think cannibalism is not natural, I encourage you to reconsider your views on anthropology, read Montaigne and do research on the subject. The will to reproduce does not drive every desire, therefore it would be hard for anyone to argue that the non-reproductive nature of same-sex relations makes them unnatural. I am gay, I never had sex with a woman. No experience required here, just the way I am. I am attracted to people I can’t have a child with, I didn’t base it on any of my experimentations. Moreover, would you argue that heterosexuality is a choice because you choose which woman (or man depending) you want to sleep with ? No. It’s the exact same. You choose to experiment but you don’t choose what you like the most. Thinking homosexuality is a choice or is unnatural reminds me of the Catholic Church thinking that the Eart revolves around the Sun because the Bible said so. Sure, you can give your opinion on a fact, but the fact will surely outlive your opinion, and you might end up looking stupid.
@Jacob-wz7pm3 жыл бұрын
@Mo a if it’s not backed by science then why is it found in sooo many species in nature. You can’t think most animals have the intellectual capacity or complexity to be “influenced” into changing their sexuality.

@@AbadyonYT The analogy is nothing but funny. I found it entertaining. But inmates performing gay sex is not a free choice. It is a choice, but not a completely free one. The thing is, when inmates engage in gay sexual intercourse, they do so because there are no females around, so they get desperate. But at the end of the day, does it really matter whether it's really a choice or not? Being gay being a free choice doesn't prove it to be wrong. People choose to be religious. Does it make it wrong? No. I'm not saying you claim this, but it seems to be a common misconception that I wanted to adress here, seeing as this analogy doesn't cover it well. Cheers mate.

Their “view” your talking about is their identity, so would it not be reasonable to want someone to be accepting of your very existence. Thats why people push for that lol. People dabbing with their sexuality is not the same as people chosing to be gay or not. I'm not gay, but my brother in law is. He was never ever interested in woman and he came out and married a man. I'm 100% certain that you could try and put him in therapy for decades and he would still be gay. I don't like to see gay men kiss, but that's no reason to judge them and make ignorant assumptions.

I genuinely agree with Carson and there's likely a huge impact from being stuck around ppl of the same gender. I went to an all girls highschool and I had several friends who at some point, usually it happens starting from the second or third year, started to feel attracted to other girls, specific ones of course not that it became that they were attracted to all girls as long as they are attractive no. And it surprisingly happened to me as well. In my third yr of highschool I caught myself having crushes at different times on three of my friends and I was so shocked because I definitely knew I wasn't gay or bi or anything. And the crushes were very legitimate like I liked those girls the way I had liked boys when I was in primary school. It was scary tbh and my close friends who had also experienced it and told me about it were terrified as well. I can't know exactly what the reason or cause for this is but I think I saw a trend on the type of girls ppl would crush on, the tomboys usually or those that were pretty but had slightly masculine features and so I concluded that it was probably just the absense of boys in our lives for so long that led our hormones to make us attracted to any boyish characteristic we encountered. And I think thats probably what happens to people and some sadly become convinced that they are gay or bi but theven act that ppl who are around boys all their life still often come out as lesbian or bi is what disproves my theory but oh well idk. Cause personally ever since I finished highschool, I've never been romantically attracted to a girl ever again

What he means is that some straight folks go through some circumstances that can trigger their emotions and neurological mechanisms in the brain and it can go as deep as influencing and even changing their sexual orientation.
