Only family courts can issue "Khula" divorce certificates to Muslim women, Madras High Court rules
In his judgement on a writ petition by a man who prayed for quashing the Khula certificate issued to his wife, Justice C Saravanan quashed the impugned certificate issued in 2017 by Shariat Council, Tamil Nadu Towheed Jamath.

Disappointed with judgement, if a 2 person can perfome marry and obtain NikahNama from Kazi/Molvi then why they can take talak or khula from shariyat court. Court is already over burden from cases. & If a men and his wife is agree to dissolution of their marrige. They why they need to go court. Pay heavy fees to advocate. Wait years and years for Court Decree. If Khula & Talak is illegal from shariyat court then marriage should also be banned by shariyat court and only a family court decree to get marry should be legal.
