Great video Simone. It's fun to see how much Eddie has improved. I would love you do to a video of you playing another pro in skinny singles. That would be fun to watch.

We sometimes play skinny singles with some modifications. We give the server three serves only. First serving from the "duce" side, then straight-away, and then serve from the "Ad" side. Then the other player serves their three balls. Also we play rally scoring usually. Another great game is to play "triple pickle". That is three people per side. Must be played on a tennis court and use the tennis sideline. Two people can, return serve, Because our courts are lined for pickleball and tennis there is an area to the outside of the kitchen to the tennis white line (singles). It is legal to serve in this area including as close to the net as you like. (It is a glory shot that usually does not pay off but on occasion you can catch someone sleeping.) So the kitchen is still valid but only as it is marked for pickleball. Also there is a funny boundary in the corners, the notch, that adds a little character to the game. Final optional rule is one we call Los Altos rules. It is goes as following: If your teammate shanks a ball and if it is floating in the air, anyone on your team, except the "shanker" can play the ball before it hits the ground. It sound pretty stupid but you can have some really crazy/fun points. Triple pickle, in my opinion, is more fun than doubles because there are much more severe angles, more options to create havoc on the other side, and one player can not dominate the game. Give it a try if you can get people to try something new.

can you purposely shank then and create basicslly a pass to smash?

Triple pickle has the highest degree of integrity and on true devotee would prevent the intended random nature of "Los Altos rules". ....actually purposely setting up your teammate would make it too easy. Send me a reply after you get a chance to play Triple pickle and let me know what you think.

Thanks for this video. It is a perfect game to play anytime but especially now with the physical distancing which is not possible in doubles. There is one huge deficiency that no-one seems to notice: there needs to be a center line through the kitchen! Hopefully, this will start a movement to paint a line that divides the kitchen. This game seems to have legs!

Eddie would have trounced Simone, but he loves the right side and didn't want to give up his advantage. :D

Damn. He has improved

Why do you switch to same side courts during the game from cross court play?
@MikeVeracity4 жыл бұрын
Otherwise you would be playing every point diagonally. Yes, the serve is different but then the rest of the game is regular in that you sometimes hit straight ahead and sometimes diagonally.

@@MikeVeracity Thx...I get it, but I was confused when they changed courts during the game...I DO like "skinnys" tho.. :)

You switch based on the server’s score. If the server’s score is odd (1, 3, 5, etc.) then the server has to move to the left side, but the receiver only moves if s/he scores, so since Eddie didn’t ever score a point, he had to stay on the even side (since 0 is even).

Good video. But it would’ve been nice to see him win a few points to demonstrate the scoring… when you’re doing a demo and you beat someone 11 - 0 it doesn’t give us an opportunity to learn the movement nor the score.

Why not just play regular singles?

some people can not cover the regular singles court especially against good bangers.

Simone you couldn't give Eddie one point? Even to demonstrate how to change sides? Really? Couldn't just hit one ball into the net? This was a training video.

I agree Dan! She could have given me at least one point....but she knew I would brag about that "one point I got on Simone" for the rest of my life. 😂😂😂 -Eddie

Nah, it was competitive play as Simone mentioned at the beginning. Eddy has to earn his points

@@Yielar1 Thats right, this was a tournament. OH wait, no this was a TRAINING VIDEO!!!! The teacher beat the student 11-0! Why? So we could see how great Simone is? She is a professional. What was the point of that? Congrats on the win:) We just wanted to see what would happen if Eddie won a point and how the players change sides. Sorry that goes against the competitive spirit. It was a TRAINING VIDEO

From what im seeing you are doing a lot of returning to each other instead of attacking the weak areas or is that the intention here,if so i don't see the point of just hitting it to each other in a"competitive" setting. I get drilling,me and my wife drill like this hitting back and forth but when we play for points we PLAY FOR POINTS.
