Great video. I agree on all points. My RTL is my only vehicle, and I ride in unpleasant weather often, including light snow. The Spyder, despite its faults, is an incredible machine.

I have great cold weather and rain gear, so I adjust what I wear for the day. I have high viz HD rain gear, it’s the best of all I’ve owned. Only hydroplaned once on my Spyder .

Before I retired, I did commute on my Spyder. Was a 16 mile ride, and It was fun to take the long way home. 16 miles to work and then 75 miles home. Rode in the cold until it snowed and the roads got treated with ice melt chemical and sand. Most years I could start commuting in March and continue until November or December. Happy new Year to you and your family.

Coach you are so right in "finding" detours while driving home. Like you it's not hard or difficult to add 15 miles to my trip taking the long way (read FUN) home. Yet after I drive it I would have only guessed I added a couple of miles until I look at the odometer. Last week I rode 85 miles and passed a store I shop at which is only 5 miles from the house. I told the mrs it took me an addition 80 miles to make it there. She just laughed and shook her head and said "only you" would do that. And we both laughed. I do notice folks see the Spyder much easier than when I rode a two wheeler and like you give the folks a wave saying thanks for not pulling out in front of me. Good video Coach, keep up the good work.

Good one Bob. You may have seen the Spyder Chris KZbin. He's relatively new, lives in Niagra Falls, NY...He's a minimalist, only has the Spyder RT for transportation, rides in some unGodly weather.

You're an inspiration, even under duress no colourful language, I wish sometimes I had that control. The Spyder does allow one to destress and put things into place. Always keep those Spyder senses on high alert. Thanks for another great video 😎😎

Great video CoachBob. I agree with you on all points. I ride into the city frequently spring, summer and fall and in most weather. Detour routes are great avoiding traffic but with the plus of scenery. I ride an RT Ltd. It great on short and long trips. Cheers. All the best to you and your family in 2025!

My first bike was a Honda CB400-4. Took the motorcycle safety course as well. They taught that you were much more likely to be seen if you could look into the eyes of the driver coming your way but not always. On my commute to work one day I came up on a driver going the other way and making a left into a parking lot. He literally turned over my front wheel sending me over his hood and onto the pavement beside his drivers door after looking right at me. First thing out of his mouth was “”oh my god I didn’t even see you”. I was sore but other than some bruises was ok. The bike was a write off. Even if they look into your eyes believe that the don’t see you. They are on auto pilot thinking about what they are going to do at work. Now that I am on a Sea To Sky I have a bigger presence in the lane which makes me MORE visible to most other drivers. I have considered going to a Ryker but don’t want to give up the extra visibility of the larger bike

My biggest pet peeve is people that can't stay in their lane when pulling out of a parking lot/side street/sub division and they go right to the left lane, I cannot tell you how many time I have come close to getting whacked and the driver has the audacity to look at me like it's my fault... Karma got one on New year as there was a cop behind him as he pulled into my lane from a Publix. Wicked Awesome Video Coach (WAVC)

As a retired paramedic of 27 years, my motorcycle has been better therapy than all of the therapist I’ve sat in front of. Like the saying goes, “you don’t find motorcycles parked outside the therapist office.”

Thanks Coach for that video it was very informative regarding riding in inclement weather and also commuting back and forth to work or the super market. In the US you call them Semi's in the UK we call them Arctic's or (HVG's) Heavy Goods Vehicles. If you are on a two wheeler you really don't want to get too close or along side those guy's. They can have blind spots in their mirrors and if you are down one side and they are turning they might not see you and this can have consequenses! Also US is FAA Federal Aviation Authority,. UK is ATC Air Traffic Control same thing and regarded as a very responsible job. Okay Coach always great to hear form you and I am looking forward to the next one.

Awesome video Coach Bob and I agree on everything. Wether riding my two wheel bike before we got the spyder and the spyder itself, a rough day always ends up better after that “wind therapy”.

On point as always, Coach! When I do use my Spyder to commute to work, there are days when I pull a Supertramp and take the long way home (love that song!) just because.

As you say “Another one in the Books” Coach! So good to see you out stress relieving! Even in the bone chilling 56 degrees! ❄️🌬️🤣 We use Duluth Trading heavy duty (bright yellow - for visibility) rain suits which we recommend…We got caught in a strong rainstorm ⛈️ riding A1A in Daytona Beach …not a drop on our riding clothes!!! Wish I were there to enjoy one of your “detours” with ya!!

Love your videos! You’re making me jonesin for riding again. Too snowy here in Virginia to bring out Miss Rosie! So she’s hibernating nicely in the garage with her battery tender on so as soon as this stuff clears, we’ll be throwing on some layers and away we go!!!! I don’t have the S2S but I have the heated grips and seat on my RTL! You were spot on about that! Love those things!!! I only wish I had the car play on my 22 that’s the only thing I wish it had! I love my spyder!!!!! It really is fun!!!

Great video! On my 2021 RTL I can get a week’s worth of groceries packed away assuming I’m not buying big bulky items, 20# box of cat litter or laundry detergent type things. As far as fuel mileage I manage to keep mine in the 38-42 range with mixed riding and have found that short shifting and keeping the RPM’s down is key. I never use ECO mode, as per the great KZbin Spyder mechanic Shawn Smoaks suggests. Ride every day and enjoy life!

Hi Coach, I’ve had a motorcycle since I was 14. I’m now 68. Here’s a habit I have. Anytime I see a car at any kind of crossing or pulling out of a driveway, I flick the brights a few times. I can’t promise it works but I’ve never been in a wreck because someone pulled in front of me. Best Wishes.
@alexlewis9085Күн бұрын
One problems with flicking lights, someone might think its a signal for them to proceed. Flick to Hi-Beam only might be a better way😎

Another comment on the fuel economy is the fact that with the spyder we need to run a higher octane fuel than we might get away with in one of our compact four wheel cages. As always, thanks for the comments!
