Thanks for volunteering, baseball and society needs more people like you. I’m also a new coach, 1st season (juniors). My nephews season was in jeopardy as nobody wanted to be a coach, so I decided to fill the spot. I’ve been loving it ever since, and the time spent with my team. I preach respect and discipline more than anything, but at the same time let the boys be boys. I hope for every kid to at least learn 1 important lesson this season and also improve in baseball of course.

I just finished my first season in league and playing one more tournament as a 6U team going 7u in the Fall. Baseball was basically the only thing my childhood consisted of, even umpired a few years with my father. I’ve been away from the game for a bit under 5 years since I’ve graduated. This opportunity to be an assistant coach on my son’s team (which is full of athletes with tons of talent potential and originates from a 1st year football team) has sparked my love for the game again. I’m so blessed to have a great bunch of young men. My son is playing catcher like I did and is doing amazing for his age and we haven’t even gotten to the fun part which makes me so excited for the future if he continues to play.

This is my first year coaching a softball team. My team ages from 11years old to 14 yr olds. We didn’t have enough people that were willing to assist in coaching. I absolutely love y’all’s video. I will be recommending the parents of my team to watch yalls video.

I offered to be an assistant coach but not 1 person on our team would offer to be the coach even though some have experience. I wanted my son to play and said I would be the coach. I asked at our 1st practice if any one would assist in games and practices and I got 1 response from someone that has multiple little kids to watch and has been the absolute best doing the line up. The city asked 1 guy to help and he has. I asked again over email for help from the parents with 0 response. As a 1st time coach I was extremely nervous mostly bc I wanted the kids to have a good time. In the meantime I have every single parent coaching from behind the fence while I try to get 6-8 year olds attentions with little luck. Then I recently got crap about my pitching which was poor (nerves) and I knew it but a mom said something and I almost lost it.. NEVER EVER AGAIN lol. I had a parent ask if i was also taking stats..... lol. Yeah your kid hit it and possibly made it to first, relax.

Kudos to you for stepping up. Though it was painful, now you have experience under your belt. Each time you do it it will get easier

Most of my coaches yelled and screamed at me if I made a mistake. Made me not want to play and took my confidence away. I've commented on this before and people have said "You're soft"

Wow this video should be shown to every little league because it's absolutely bonkers out there with the amount of yelling from the parents and the various coaches.

Parents are the worst! They don’t stick around and watch practice and then show up at games and scream plays, etc. I’ve had talks and TALKS yet they still do it. No respect!

We got kinda lucky, our parents don't yell too much. They mostly just cheer

Bingo. There’s a reason big league coaches have clear division of responsibilities
