Laine wont stay in Columbus for a long time🙁 "Blue Jackets star forward Patrik Laine was benched during Monday’s win over Carolina because he “verbally disrespected” a member of the coaching staff, a source told The Athletic on Tuesday. Laine didn’t play for the final 26:19, missing the entire third period in a tight game, but it wasn’t the result of his repeated defensive miscues. Neither Blue Jackets general manager Jarmo Kekalainen nor coach John Tortorella would comment when reached by The Athletic. Laine’s agents, Mike Liut and Andy Scott, did not respond to requests for comment. The Columbus Dispatch was the first to report Laine’s flare-up with a coach. It’s unclear which coach had the interaction with Laine or if it was a single interaction or a series of events. th4970 still a bit speculative at this point.....Laine was a goner as well as Roslovic so it was the best case scenario for this season. Let's not forget the 3rd draft pick in 2022 either. I believe the Jets have control over Dubois for two seasons and in this day and age thats ok. What Laine has is STAR power and the Jet fans will miss those highlight reel goals......especially on the PP. Dubois will give them immediate depth at Centre Ice and that is being recognized by more than just Craig Button. They also have some additional cap space they need to shore up their defence. Their goaltending is solid with Helle and Brossoit'. Under the circumstances I think both GMs managed to improve their teams and all 3 players will likely continue to improve. That's no easy feat but yeah I liked Laine and was hoping he'd mature into more than just a scoring machine.....but Dubois showed well in the playoffs last year with 10 points so I'm hoping he grows to like Winnipeg and their coaching staff.

Nobody talks about scheifele and wheeler not wanting laine in the top line and thats why he playedin 2nd line so much. Why did laine play left wing only on PP? Because scheif and wheeler didnt feel okay with that.
@mbfrommb36993 жыл бұрын
Laine was terrible on the first line. He was way better when he was on the Stastny, Ehlers line. Laine was a good offensive player but struggled mightily defensively and when the 1st line gets the team's best he struggled defensively. He wanted to be on the first line without being able to handle it. I think he felt if he was always on the second line that he wouldn't get paid enough. I think both teams got what they needed. CBJ got scoring and the Jets got a young elite center. I don't think that Laine will stay in Columbus. Torts will run him out of town and they don't seem to have strong centers for him, but I guess we will see.

10:33 they should of fired the coach instead of trade the once in a generation talent.

Maurice is a great coach. There are extremely talented forwards on the Jets and it must be tough to please everyone when there are 6 seriously talented forwards who all could be first-liners.

Both coaches lost the room and the resulting trades clearly illustrates this.

I don't see that at all. Pierre LD has been talked about with his feelings of being in Columbus for years now and same with Laine
@goleafsgo84963 жыл бұрын
@@jeremybottoms6722 agreed not convinced they lost the room or the team. However a cancer (player wanting out) needs to be addressed and I think the trade is solid for both teams. If it was left to "fester" or become a distraction then the room question surfaces as ultimately players will pick a side.

lol, it's about the team when it comes to personal feuds, but all about the individual when the individual can make the team (aka Torts) look good.

@@johnobrien1528 well actually it is. for cbj this trade is in my opinion not worth it because laine is not under contract for long. he might want out of ohio as fast as he can like many others who prefer big city spotlight. in their current roster situation they gained one more huge gap at 1C. if you follow hockey its nearly impossible to trade for a 1C. columbus went all in with trades for duchene etc and overpayed like crazy for a cup run that ended in a second round. they could could have had a better offer with rebuild possibilities in the long run cause laine doesn‘t make a difference that their time is NOT now. 1st round picks + prospect + player would have been better. and wpg lost the better player

Ubusive behaviour should no longer tolerated in sport. When the Blue Jackets clue into that it’ll be the last time Torts is employed in the the NHL.

Laine will tell you the line he’s on and the players he’s going to play with, if he doesn’t get his way, he has tantrums like a baby
