Tippett needs to be held accountable for playing McD and Drai an insane amount every game, its no wonder their production has dropped off a cliff. Holland needs to be given the boot for failing to address the goaltending and defensive issues that have plagued the team since he took the reigns and finally players like Kosk and Keith need to be acknowledged as failed experiments and have their salaries buried in the minors. If i was Holland i would be looking at Chicago and offering a 2nd rounder(conditional) and possibly a first or a 3rd+ blue chip prospect for Fleury(30%-50% salary retained) and McCabe. The condition on the 2nd rounder would be if Fleury resigns in Edmonton. I'm not 100% on if the salaries would work under that but i think its close. In the end the Oilers would get the left handed shut down D man and Goalie they've been sorely needing. I think Chicago would make the Oilers pay way more however. Keep in mind this is just the opinion of an Oilers fan who is a bit of a Jackass. It has been fun watching your channel grow Taiwan Hockey you've been doing a hell of a job.

Give me a fucking break. Other teams have figured out that the Oilers are STILL just a two man team surrounded by a bunch of lids and have pumped the brakes on their game. Jonathan Huberdeau and Alex Ovechkin are the next leading point leaders in the NHL currently and they play similar minutes each night and I don't see their teams falling off, OR their fanbase crying because of a lack of production?? One of the problems is that, on the whole, goal scorers don't have a great plus/minus rating. Of the top 10 goal scorers, only Ovi actually has a decent plus/minus. DeBrincat with Chicago is actually quite horrible. Goal scorers so often suck on the defensive end. Of course, that slack on defense is what allows them to fast break and get their goals....but it's not often great overall for their team. A team needs a bunch of overall good players.....or they becomes the kind of streaking and slumping team that we see with Edmonton. Toronto has some of the same problem, although definitely steadier than Edmonton these days.

@Mcdavidsburner2 жыл бұрын
I’m honestly tired of people complaining about secondary scoring on the oilers. It’s such a casual take tbh. If you actually watch the games, watch how tippet roles the lines. He will often role the first and second where their shifts are 1:30-2 minutes, then the third will hop on for 30-45 seconds until the first hops back on the ice. The 4th line barely plays and I think rack up 5-6 minutes total ice time. I might be a bit off on my numbers but principal is the same. Also, tippet will play the first power play unit for all 2 minutes. That second power play unit has seen a combined 3 minutes of power play time and that’s isnt an exaggeration. Next, tippet always stacks up mcdrai after penalty kills and for the last 5 minutes of most games. Blaming the secondary scoring I feel is only really justified if their depth scoring actually got more time on ice. Also tippet is blind when it comes to finding chemistry and assessing talent to put into the line up. The oilers bottom 6 shuffles every. Single. Game. Tippet never allows players to get accustomed with each other and build chemistry. For example tippet never plays benson and McLeod together despite them being on the best line in the ahl together last year. Also, tippet continues to play Kyle Turris in the bottom 6 who at this point in his career is about as useful as a cow on its side. That’s an accurate description of our depth issues. Limited Ice time, limited chemistry, and poor line up choices. This is coming from a life long oilers fan not Someone who glances at the states and makes a statement... Edit: also if you are an oilers fan take a look at the 5 on 5 offence. The oilers NEVER battle for position in the slot. They have a cycle the works along the boards but never only sometime has a net Front presence when in the O zone. It’s a coaches system that has been implemented that simply work... feel free to Challenge me in the replies🤷🏼♂️
@j.t.miller16412 жыл бұрын
From a Canucks fan, that sounds very familiar! Except green balanced ice times a lot better than that apparently. Sounds like a coaching change is needed I dont think people realize how much of the players play is actually the way the coach wants it played in the end. I was just thinking last week too how it seems like Tippett has been able to hide behind the popularity of 97 and 29, maybe this slump for the oilers is what they need for the deeper problems to show!!
@BigH0mie892 жыл бұрын
Lol "a casual take". You can't rely on one line to score goals. You need contributions from all 4 lines. Edmontons depth is lacking, quite a bit really. Their defense and goaltending aren't solid either. McDavid and Drai's back must be aching from carrying this team.
@dimer17292 жыл бұрын
So your a typical oilers fan who can't see the forest through the trees. It's not your fuckn coach. No coach makes your roster work. The GM, as per usual in Edmonton is a colossal failure. Running back Mike Smith and Koskinen? C'mon. Chemistry in the AHL means nothing in the NHL BTW.

@@dimer1729 ?? Obviously Holland is incompetent with our goaltending situation. But the guys we picked up specifically in foegoel and Hyman are solid pick ups and provide actual depth. LoL What? What kind of drugs are you on? 🤪
@scottiepaterson1922 жыл бұрын
That's exactly right. I've been saying for years that the way the league is structured lends to a more boring product on the ice. They're using strong markets to spread the game and fund teams in areas where there is no market for hockey. Ironically enough European sports leagues are run more like a capitalistic society, where the more fans you have that spend money, the better team you get, and there's a direct correlation between having a strong fan base and a good team. It makes sense because strong fan bases deserve good teams. North American sports leagues on the other hand are run like a hardcore socialist society where the league owns everything and takes money from the succesful teams and funnels it into cities that don't support their teams as much. NHL/AHL should be abolished and hockey should have tiered leagues with relegation and promotion that teams can sign up for and they aren't owned by the league. Then only cities that actually want teams get them, and the fan bases that care the most get results
The most successful teams roll 4 lines and spread their talent and salary throughout the lineup. The problem with Edmonton simply is due to poor roster construction which is not anyones fault but their own. Edmonton chose to pay three guys 30% of their salary instead of signing them to team friendly deals like say Pittsburgh did with Malkin and Crosby. If the GM and the players decide they would rather be paid 10-11 million rather than have any sort of depth around them, it is their choice and they must live with the consequences of that choice which is limited team success. It’s exactly life what the maple leafs did with the their superstars and it will be the same result year after year for both teams until they can unload salary and secure some depth.
@scottiepaterson1922 жыл бұрын
@@tyronebiggums1213 McDavid took same percentage of cap that Crosby did and Draisaitl is on one of the most team friendly deals in the NHL. There is other money being thrown away in other parts of the lineup but your assesment being that the cap troubles are based on McDavid and Draisaitls contracts doesn't make sense to me. Salary caps only benefit the league (not the NHLPA) and the small market teams. There shouldn't even be salary caps or revenue sharing. Cities that can't support a team should just fold, and let that talent go to markets that would appreciate it

All the goalies that were sent down on waivers last year and this year and have nothing to help out at all. Some of those goalies were on 2 way contracts. Now they have one option in Skinner- this falls in Holland lap. Look at Detroit at the end his tenure. What kind of shape was it in it?
