Man, I coach and I never really yell directly at my players. All I do is cheer them on, encourage them and teach them. At this age it's really all about learning and getting better while having fun. The win is secondary.

Even at older age, still the same rule applies. If I ever become a coach for a sport, it is easier said than done but glad we see examples of what to do and what not do.

I quit soccer because my coach would yell at me so much it made me so upset. He ruined soccer for me. If you have a coach like that dont be afraid to tell someone. I did not tell a adult when I thought it was out of control and that was a big mistake. I learned tell the coach that they need to fix their actions or tell a adult. I hope this helps people who are going through a tough time.

This is not coaching this is bullying kids , It’s an evolving door of learning for all players , either the coach lacks communication skills to where the kids understand or the coach teaching failed strategies, at best the coach is hiding their own coaching flaws with the yelling .

I mean every coach is not perfect at all. Some coaches yell, some don't, some pitty pad children, some don't, some say let's just give it the old college try, some don't. I'm not getting into analytics about Summers gender. But, I will say that she isn't a coaching/teacher in the game of basketball. I think she's just going off emotions. I know for me being a coach. I could get very intense. All because when I coach, I know that my players can play, I know that my players shouldn't be scared of any other player in front of them, my players practice just as hard as anyone else does, my players are not getting pushed around, I expect my players to give me %💯 effort even if they don't have talent, have fun and play hard. All because I want to coach, be a teacher, a motivator, a confidence builder and someone who these players respect as I'm respectful to them that's the difference with Summer. Seems like she really knows very little about basketball and you can't scream and yell especially if you don't know what you are doing, have knowledge in the game your coaching or building the children up in confidence. That is just my point of view. Football or sports in general isn't for everyone. So, before a child steps on the court or field it's either because there child wants to play or because the parent is forcing the child to play for whatever reason which could be very traumatic for the child. But, as I said. I'm sure that all of the great players from any sport got yelled at at one point in time. Some players react differently than others. But, then again. That's up to the coach to know his players and how to get the best out of them. I for one didn't mind the yelling. Especially when you yelled at me, told me why you were yelling, but coached/taught me the right way to execute. As oppose to just yelling at me, not telling me why, not teaching or coaching me and just pulling me out of a game or practice with no clue on why..... But, that's just me.

Hey there is a big difference in coaching Black kids verses white kids. I'm not trying to make this about race but good behavior kids do better with instructions! As to a lot of black kids who tend to be better psychical athletes you have to deal with a lot of behavior problems! Black parenting also come into paly here, normally how a parent responds to a child dictates how this child will responds to you as a coach!
