It is a shame for India that so many highly educated slog away their youth for an exam with 0.01 % success rate. This is because they don't see the private sector, entrepreneurship or others avenues as ladder of success or social mobility. Generations getting wasted . What a shame.....!!!

Education in India = well paid job get family out of poverty become rich/to hell with the rest of society. Am Indian born/educated but chose the UK. Education has never improved the Indian mindset set in dark ages. Challenging authority traditions is forbidden. Parents in absolute control from cradle to grave. Children are commodities to be bought/sold. Arranged marriage living with in-laws having kids to please parents harassing sons wives.

And the best thing India dosen't get FDI because of bureaucracy. I went to a gevernment school to teach on Arduino and robotics to class 9 and 11 student. First principle thought I am here to make donation also. Later some government official came by VDO level, he was asking what education I am giving to student what is its use. In the last I just wanted to run away from the school. This officer was questioning me a like a Inspector questions a thief. I had to show him my microcontroller and loptop, He took them some other place. And I was made to sit in principle office. He return my laptop and other stuff but the moment they said I can go I just run away from that school. Never I will do it again.

Very apt insights. I always wondered while in ORN myself a few years back, why everyone adds a suffix "IAS" to their coaching. The exam is for 23 Group A and group B posts, all equally respectable. The conclusion I reached was that most people know this exam as IAS exam and hence the coaching industry played on the psyche of these people. If I could tell an open secret from the industry, it would be that every "Sir" secretly detests this job as they are fully aware of what they are doing. But the money is far too good to let go. Another interesting fact, Rau's IAS brands itself as one of the pioneers of civil services coaching (proudly writes "since 1953"). It hosted former RBI governor D. Subbarao 15 days prior to the disaster in the same building where the deaths happened. Not one media house reached out to the Hon. Governor for his views on the matter. Thanks for raising the issue Shekhar "Sir".

I passed out of MEA Hr Sec School ( now DTEA) Mandir Marg in 1965. Was an average mid - class student but good in sports. No tuition for education. Was selected for. National Defence Academy on merit. No coaching. My father paid Rs 9 per month for school fees! My parents spent Rs 30 per month as my pocket money while at NDA which was increased to Rs40/- per month in Indian Military Academy 😊 Our school teachers were our Gurus who took extra classes in school for all of us before exams. They wanted us to excel and we did not want to let them down. If I say , in good old days” I am frowned upon today . Nearly 60 years ago we got real education with dedicated teachers. They say F&O trading is gambling -- Compared to UPSC / ITT JEE NEET coaching spend , where the success rate is 0.01 % , F&O trading success rate is at least 10 % . 15 lakhs people appear for JEE for around 3000 seats across India. Coaching institute fee + living cost put together total spend runs close to RS 50 lakhs or more .. Those people who " Invested " in these would like to " Recover " through unscrupulous way .. That is why now a days IAS / IPS become corrupt from day 1 . as they want to recover as speed as possible ASAP . Once very famous Indian Foreign Service IFS , there is no takers as nobody wants to become Ambassador of Somalia or Republic of Congo .. Indian Revenue Service IRS where corruption opportunity is huge is in demand now ..

100% agree with you sir. After spending 3 lakhs to earn an engineering degree from MU. I was crushed in job market because I did not have employability, or a CDAC certificate which take 1 more lakh repps. My parents and us lived hand to mouth then and 1 lakh seemed a lot of money. In hindsight I blame the culture which normalised spending on external coaching while still paying for sub par regular college education. It needs to go.

Everything from Wayanad to Delhi to Mumbai are merely the signs of coming days. I think the real culprits are "We the people of India". We are ready to pay "top dollar" for coaching and private tuitions, but the moment school tuition fees are raised, we create a ruckus. There are limits to Govt spending. Most state universities are in abysmal state and in dire need of infra upgrade. The teaching recruitment process at state level is among India's worst kept secrets. There is an urgent need to course correct but I am afraid we are still yet to wake up.

It is a broken system. Private tuitions are minting money and many star owners are happily owning Limousines. The colleges they are supposedly affiliated to exist only on paper. Students are told that the coaching classes will arrange for their admission to complete formalities and they need not attend colleges. This parallel education system is created at the cost of students and their parents. Needless to add that the cost is prohibitive but surprisingly no one is complaining. The flourishing business helps govt to earn GST in thousands of crores. No wonder they are turning a blind eye. Everything will be back to 'normal' and this tragedy will be soon forgotten.

The more established schools have limited seats to go with the more reasonable fee structure and the “corporatised” schools have no check in terms of fees.

Coaching institutes, including those for NEET, should be done away with. More ridiculous is some students give repeated attempts for 4 or even 6 attempts. This is unfair to a 17 year old fresh HSC student from schools when a 21 or 22 year old student, ie the normal passing out age for a professional undergraduate student, competes with a fresh 12th student, that even studying only 3 subjects in Coaching institutes. There seems to be a big scam in the whole process of mushrooming of Coaching institutes. If Coaching institutes are the deciding factors for clearing NEET, then there is no need for schools. Even during the recent NEET question paper leak, SC asked only about the list of candidates from exam centers and not the list of candidates from various institutes in the suspected localities, where question paper leak happened. If this survey is done, then the rotten system will be exposed and their nexus with various segments.

IMO the main reason for the broken education system is the "Entrance Exam" model of our universities and higher educational institutions. When everything about your/your kids future depends on cracking one MCQ exam obviously people are going to invest everything into it...whereas this is not the case in many countries, there your exam score is just one criteria, besides you have to write essays, give interviews, even your school performance of the whole year is used through GPA and they also consider your achievements in extracurricular activities.

Bang on bro!!!,these media prestitudes do the same as coaching walas, cater to the market demand, blaming mcd govt etc. is boring life for them now, so they have started targetting specifically coaching ppl only, its mentos life!!! for these media valas nowadays.

One of the best episodes. There’s facts, rhetoric and the larger point that we’ve put these ppl on such a big pedestal. I am myself from such a system revere my coaching teachers but not school teachers. A real shame!

It starts with the appointment of Vice Chancellor. Mostly on party and caste basis. Notice how some state governments fight over this right. I had asked what is the deal? Informed sources tell me that there is plenty of money to be made of UGC grants.

I have been watching your video for a little while, they are good, you try to give a holistic picture, collection and presentation of facts, problems are done without any bias also making parallels and deducing solutions, your analysis has everything in it.❤

Governments pay more salaries to it's teachers more to adminstrative staff, has huge play grounds but couldn't compete with private schools and coaching centres. Because Governments don't dare to command teachers to teach in a better way and no punishments and incentives for worst & good teaching

Nice provoking thought..which will happen in near future as present broken education system will lead the aspiring chain as knowledge seekers whose count is swelling would replace with right channels of knowledge delivery that is the birth right and constitutional right. Thank you Regards, for your valuable insights, sure to be forthcoming..

I don't think we can do what China did. Indian coaching firms are very powerful and a huge lobby group. They are bigger than the film industry and have much better public image. They can literally bully the parliament to reverse that decision.
