In a major breakthrough related to the four-and-a-half-years of military standoff along the LAC, after the Chinese incursions in eastern Ladakh, India and China have agreed to restore patrolling rights in the Depsang Plains in the north and Demchok in the south of Ladakh. This agreement comes after several meetings (31 so far) were held by the WMCC (Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on India-China Border Affairs), 21 rounds of India-China Corps Commander Level Meetings, as well as multiple meetings between the two Foreign Ministers in order to ease tensions, narrow down the differences and find early resolution of the outstanding issues. It is noteworthy, since May 2020, Indian and Chinese troops have had multiple confrontations in the seven friction points in the eastern Ladakh - Galwan Valley (PP 14), Hot Springs (PP 15), Gogra (PP 17A), North and South banks of Pangong Tso, Depsang Plains and Charding Nullah in Demchok region. According to both EAM and Foreign Secretary, disengagement has happened at all the friction points, leading to pre-2020 status quo in the region. As per reports, overall deployment of troops along the LAC will be ‘thinned down’ in due course. The arrangement assumes greater significance since it comes just ahead of the 16th BRICS Summit, scheduled to be held in Kazan, Russia, on October 22-23, where Indian PM Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping are expected to hold bilateral talks on the sidelines of the two-day summit. Calling the development a ‘positive and good’ one, EAM S. Jaishankar emphasized the outcome as a product of “very patient and persevering diplomacy”. After all, only peace and stability along the border will lead to growth and prosperity in the two countries.
@jaydeepgadhavi54652 ай бұрын
Nice episode. Even though disputed, the fact that India & China haven't exchanged LAC maps unlike LoC (with Pakistan), patrolling becomes much more important than permanent deployment on LAC vice versa in case of LoC

..........Why Nehru expanded Northern Borders with China during 1947-1962??? These are main reasons... 1) Britain left India hurriedly so Nehru annexed/ merged Hyderabad, Manipur and Kashmir etc small nations or Princely States in 1948.. 2) Nehru invaded Goa twice and merged with India in 1961... 3) After annexation of Goa in 1961, Nehru and Indian Army morale increased strongly so Nehru tried to merge " Aksai Chin" from 1950 to 1962 so India- China War happened ( Aksai Chin was a vast barren lands so British- India government never showed it in any Indian maps). Aksai Chin was always under Tibetans control and Aksai Chin belongs to Tibet forever.... 4) Indira Gandhi annexed Sikkim in 1975 by using Indian Military forces. India tried to annex Nepal and Bhutan failed because America, UN and China protected Nepal and Bhutan from Indian expansionism during 1950-1975...........

To ensure that India obtains an undisturbed environment along our northern border to continue with our nation's strategic objective of unhindered economic development, India must learn how to wait for a more opportune moment to resolve any issue of her interest. Indian govt has done an excellent job of meeting this objective vis-a-vis the Chinese without compromising on the nation's honour and interests. All the clever talk by the commentariat is just that; empty talk and lot of politics. Indian establishment has outflanked and outsmarted both, the Chinese by playing the QUAD/US card and the intellectual mercenaries ubiquitous in our media by ignoring the clamor sustained by them since Galwan.

only concern is on paper and on ground is it the same? India army should give an official confirmation so as to clear on paper and on ground reality.. Its a positive step undoubtedly.. But continuous monitoring through satellite images is much necessary..

India and China are competing powers so some distrust will always but if we can keep the border quiet it will be a step forward

Good news, but in this 4 years what we learn is china dictates whether LAC would be peaceful or not.
@dhrubaroychowdhury54652 ай бұрын
This is a good outcome but India cannot let the guards down. This significantly increases the defense cost of India as India needs to maintain its posture both LOC & LAC. We should remember had China not faced economic softness they would not have come to this conclusion. They have also ensured India is not going to become a pseudo NATO member by putting Canada against India.

It could also mean both India , China has completed patrolling and territory completely mapped out with their large AI powered UAV fleet. Looks like standoff is not necessary and can remotely manage unmanned . Move on to stage 2 . Didn't India rent drones from US for the same ?

Because in geopolitics sometimes you should not do that. This government knows that well

Dumb Question: Before 1962, was the entire Aksai Chin mainland was an integral part of India? Did our loss in the war lead to permanently losing that piece on the East?
@sap2682 ай бұрын
Short answer is yes. We lost Aksi Chin, and Pakistan ceded a lot of land to the Chinks
@ranjith96562 ай бұрын
Short answer :yes Long answer: Entire ladakh claimed today by India was part of the territory historically inherited from british india. But since communist revolution and chinese capture of tibet china is trying to expand west to control rhe dominating heights by a technique called salami slicing Eg:If they want a point 5km inside,they will invade 10km inside and then after drama retreat to their originall desired 5km point and maintaining buffer in remaining 5km in name of disputed territory
