Wait wait wait.... Federer tosses the ball in all different places?WTF is this guy talking about?? Roger’s serve is so effective because nobody could read his toss... 2009 Wimbledon final for example...

That’s my service motion ... one arm goes up while the other stays down. And I get tremendous power.

Mats hits a lot of key points on serve... but its very diff to put it all together. I gotta agree with Superisaac, of the Roddick matches Ive seen he didn't place it well.

Many people don't know that Raonic and Karlovic are actually cousins. I'm not even joking. The top 2 serves are related lol. What are the odds?

Well, Roanic from Canada and Karlovic from Croatia can be cousins, seems legit...

Raonic was born in Montenegro. Montenegro is next to Croatia. Can you put 2 and 2 together?

What a pleasure to hear Mats speaking he speaks such a clear English instead listen to Nick Kyrgios is so annoying I can't understand what he said.

Mats is usually pretty good, but some very questionable statements here. Federer varies his toss all over the place? what? Federer's famous for using the same toss and technique for hitting each type of serve-- flat, slice, kick. Wimbledon actually did a feature on that earlier this week. Roddick the best serve of all time? No chance. Sampras by a long shot, then Fed , Karlovic, Isner, etc. Roddick had incredible pace, but not great accuracy

Andy Roddick was a better server then Pete Sampras Andy has more aces and less double faults then Pete. Andy has won more service games then Sampras. Andy also has won more service points and has a higher lst serve percentage then Sampras. Andy also has a higher second serve points won percentage then Pete. Andy is the better server then Pete. This isn't me talking outta of my ass these are hard facts. The only thing Pete has that Andy doesn't is 14 grand slams. But I'd like to see if he could win that many in the big four era.

BIG Sean7 this is perhaps the most laughable thing I've ever heard. For one, no one cares how many service games/ points are won/ percentage of serves in. Its the percentage of points won with 1st, or percentage won with 2nd. Or break points saved percentage. Otherwise the other player could just play more matches and they would win in those stats. Id like to see you cite those stats anyway, you just pulled them out of your ass. www.worldtennismagazine.com/archives/7790 I can list site after site after site, expert after expert after expert that say Sampras is one of the best ever, if not the best. Look up "best serve ever in tennis", and it'll be sampras, sampras, sampras all the way down the line. Stop trolling, no one in their right mind thinks Roddick is a better server than sampras, its hardly even worth arguing.

I never said Andy was better then Pete I said he was a better server. And I looked up my facts at ATP World Tour Player stats. And the stats are clearly in Andy's farvour. Look Pete is one of my favourite players of all time. But Andy was better server and true Pete played more matches then Andy 159 matches to be exact. Pete double faulted 3000 times and Andy only double faulted 1500 times and Andy Roddick had more aces then Pete in less matches. Listen Pete is one of the greatest of all time but if you just look at the stats its in favour of Andy. And also Andy retired way too early. He could still be playing today for all we know on the ATP world tour. Pete had a way better all round game, Andy was better server.

BIG Sean7 did you even read the website I linked? just look up tennis best server of all time and stop focusing on the stuff that validates your own opinion!!! anyone can cherry pick things so that it looks like they're right, you have to counter what the other person brings. alright lets dissect the server stats if you wont take the word of numerous experts on this (by the way, when I say better, I always mean serving, everyone knows Sampras was better all around than roddick): one, there's more to being a good server than number of aces and double faults. That's why Karlovic doesn't win every match, and why Federer got to the final of wimbledon. So being a great server doesnt solely rely on ace counts. So you can ignore those statistics. (Would you say ivanisevic is better than roddick and sampras? ). 1st serve percentage is also meaningless: Nadal hits like 76 % but his serve is weak so he gets broken all the time. Sampras leads in first serve percentage points won (81-79), and in total numbers. (but Karlovic, Ivanisevic, Raonic lead, are they better ?) Roddick leads in percentage service games won (by very little), but Karlovic, Isner, Raonic lead. Again, are they better?!!! Roddick won more on second serve, he had a magnificent one. (But Nadal leads him, does that mean Nadal is better? ) They are tied for percentage of break points saved (but Karlovic, Isner, Raonic lead both, are they better?) So you can see that picking just stats, you could make an argument for Karlovic, Isner, Ivanisevic, Federer, Raonic, Sampras, Roddick. And rightly so, they have amazing serves. The miniscule differences between the servers in overall stats say very little about match situations. What defines the very best servers is there ability to serve well under pressure, and to not just hit aces, but to set themselves up. Sampras was the best of all time at this, Federer is incredibly good too. Raonic isn't there yet, Isner isn't even close, Karlovic either. Just look at Wimbledons won. Sampras won 7 in the 90s, when the grass was slick and the serve was king. His serve was so good that one of the best returners of all time, Agassi, was always fighting a losing battle (read his autobiography, he mentions it all the time). Roddick? O. Part of this is because Federer was just so amazing. But Roddick was comprehensively outaced by Federer in 2009 because he didnt hit his spots nearly as well. Roddick had an incredible serve, lightning hard, and fairly consistent. But it was readable, and inaccurate compared to Sampras and Federer. Hence Roddick's failings deep in majors. Sampras dominated an entire generation behind the force of his serving. The difference is clear to anyone who's watched them play. Any questions?
