As a new player this was incredible to watch. So much amazing information, the play-by-play commentary was so useful! I really appreciate both the in-game commentary to know what you're thinking moment-to-moment and also the after-game webcam footage to analyze mistakes. Please, please do more of these, for new players this was absolutely amazing!

As someone learning how to play defence for the first time this video was invaluable. The POV shots in actual games is really useful for spotting positioning and how to win those battles. Thanks for this and please do more!

I like the post game commentary. Defense looked good. Would love to see a future video where you maybe talk about what you do on offense off the puck? Like where you move and where you are looking to get open? I feel like I always bunch up and don't end up in good space
@NiftysGaming2 жыл бұрын
Hey, I'm not a pro by any means but to avoid bunching up try to just look around and find open space and find open passing lanes it will work miracles

I'm realizing I need to stop watching videos online. The rink I play at here in Kentucky doesn't use the blade or hot water...because of wanting to "Save money". The ice is so damn rough, and every time I watch a video online I'm just incredibly jealous of everyone playing on smooth ice. Great video, Jeremy! I finally got back to playing after years off from Covid, and I've been mostly getting slotted at C and LW, but I'm looking to hopefully move back to D soon. I figure if I'm not going to score any goals as a forward, I may as well play back where I like to be and hopefully keep others from enjoying scoring goals too. I am glad to see I'm not the only person who goes "Sorry!" after blasting someone because I can't aim for the net...
@peterbutcher48482 жыл бұрын
As a D I love it when forwards decide to play D 😑 D don't pull rank and say I'll play up front. Forwards playing D then play D like a forward playing D. Try to go end to end, get caught too deep in the offensive end and mess it up in their own end. Nice passes out of the zone but the D let the other team get behind you a few times. Head on a swivel playing D means you can see everybody, count them and look behind. Watch the gate for cheeky player changes. Too many 2 on 1s.Good D to D passes 👍 Stay up front and do what you do best and leave the D to the specialists. 😉

That was funny and was that Phil Kessel who got that first jersey? LOL A good perspective of how hard playing D really is and how different it is to playing forward. Good sticks and lots of hustle on the ice kept you guys from letting too many pucks in.

If on a 2 on 1 and you take away pass like @9:09 then as a defenseman you've done your job. a 2ft sauce pass going over you if you lay down.
@Romanchelli2 жыл бұрын
Not bad on how you did. In regards to drop pass, if you can caught it, that's great, but you should stick to your player, because next thing that will go is pass back to that player you left behind alone in front of the net. And in regards to 2on1 play you take away pass, but never by standing between those 2 players but actually taking out the other player so that you'll make it 1 against the goalie and all you try is to not allow the player and puck to go from one side to the other side so that goalie needs to cover only one side and don't need to cover cross play. And then you just wait for help and try to poke the puck and prevent the goal.

my keys to D....hold the blue line...... don't reach with your body only your hands..... force the guy to the outside...... if you screen the goalie-you better make the save....... don't wait for trouble and use your help on passes....talk to your guys......when in doubt, dump it out......final thought, all forwards should learn how to play defense then they would learn to see the whole ice and be better players and they might learn how to skate backwards...LOL

I play defense and everyone when I make a mistake or get burned, they alway say, you had one easy job. They just don’t get because they don’t play defense. Defense I tell you is hard. You have to watch all 5 opponents. You also don’t score much and you usually make the plays. It’s a hard job to be defense.

@@Dylan..814 I feel you. I played on a team once that had an awful goalie that was not able to catch cheap goals. and then the coach would be like hit him hit him. and I'm just thinking in my head, that guy is skating like 60mph down center ice. he is about the same weight as me, I am going maybe 20, ( these are just example mph. I have no idea how fast) so he has 40mph on me. I will get my a#$ rocked by that dude and he will probably score anyway and I want to finish the game so why get murdered.
@Dylan..8142 жыл бұрын
@@marcoharvan683 exactly. last season our goalie was super weak to wrap around so my coach expected me to hit someone every time they wrapped, well that didn't go to well when someone 20+ pounds heavier and 5 inches taller then me (i'm relatively short for my age) reverse hits me and i'm out because a mild concussion for 3 weeks. Some people expect the most out of defense even when its a 2 on 5 because the rest of your team cant back check.
