everything to like about a sportsman who's been at the top of his chosen sport for so many seasons. a true role-model on & off the ice for up & coming hockey players not just goaltender's. thanks for such a video & most of all many, many thanks to marc-andre fleury for the enjoyment he's brought to this wonderful game! merci.

Love how the players let him initiate the break away drill in the end. So he won't be totally gassed when doing it.

He’s still old school on his pad strap setup. Most now have a couple Velcro straps he still has leather. Also they sit a lot lower on his skates unlike the hi water look most use today.

I am going to be honest I think straps are better then velcro You can make the pads tighter

@@princemoneycat5294 i like velcro bc I dont like my pads too tight and the elastic straps give some flex rather than more stiff leather straps. Used both tho

@@princemoneycat5294pads shouldn’t be tight, they won’t be able to move around. I had leather straps and they tightened just as much as Velcro

If you've ever taken a puck on the outside of your skate boot, by the arch, you'd know why.

I would love to see a video about his workouts and stuff. Id like to know the secret behind how hes so flexible after so many nhl seasons

I'd like to see his off ice training too. Secret to flexibility: Some are naturally more flexible than others but for guys like me it takes daily work. And pretty much every high level pro guy works on it daily. So, just good habits. I saw him the first time at U20 championships and what separated him already 20 years ago was the explosiveness and speed which he clearly has talent for. Some guys naturally have great jump ability that shows in the ice as amazing movement. When you make it even better with training and combine with other skills this is the result.

its a practice palm, they are really stiff and padded to prevent injury over the hundreds of shots, game palms are much thinner

This is interesting to see, Fleury isn't leading his movements with his head and eyes, but rather moves in the direction of the passed puck while turning. This habit usually is taught to be bad.
@GoalieForce11 ай бұрын
That is actually interesting that you are picking it up. If someone reads this comment it will help them to be much faster: In theory we want to lead with eyes and head which goalies at all levels aim to do and all the decent coaches teach it. BUT we have to look at real life outside of theory. If you are always doing "lead with the head and eyes before moving anything else" you'll be late often. Especially when you are with pro guys. Things just happen so fast that you can't simple "let me turn my head first". HERE IS ANOTHER SECRET that makes you faster: You scan the situation so you know the play before it happens. You know where the sticks are, what options players have and before the situation happens you know options. Visuals give your brain data to process and that is why it is super important to turn the head and scan the area. CONCLUSION: When you see the pass, you move to direction where you know the puck is going and while moving/turning you lock your eyes to the stick where the puck will land. And of course you'll need to know where the stick is where the pass is going to. Try this at the next practice and NOW YOU HAVE TAKE TO YOUR SPEED TO ANOTHER LEVEL.
