Coast Guard Honor Guard - Episode 2

I had the privilege of being a member in 1967-68, only 13 month tour at that time. The uniforms now are so much better, the "duck hat" was introduced then, and universally hated. We weren't half as squared away then, with much less ceremonial duties, and spent most of our time maintaining WRS as it was known then. Spent a lot of our duty time at Arlington and Andrews and were specificly addressed by then President Johnson on the White House Grounds thanking us for our service. Brings back a lot of pleasant memories. Semper Paratus!

1969-1970-Yeah! Who thought that hat was a good idea? On leave in Philly one time . A lady on the El thought I was a visiting Russian.

I was USCG HG from 97-99. I got out went to college and then commissioned in the Army and finished out my career there. However some of my best memories were in the USCG HG.
