I had been walking the Lake District mountains and fells for years and didn't really consider the Coast to Coast. The sense of adventure of a long distance thru hike hooked me in 2018 though, so off I went!....

Ha, you're very much like me when tackling a journey (walk or run etc) - I count and work out how much I have done. e.g. 10km run is the equivalent of 25 times round a standard running track, or 20 times round the next block of houses from mine. It helps pass the time to keep the mind busy

Hi. Really enjoying this series of videos, thank you for taking the time to share your adventure. I'm completing the C2C with my son in July 2019. Can't wait! Forgive me for pointing something out: we don't pronounce Chop Gate 'gate'. We say Chop 'Gat'. Though I'm sure someone else will have an alternative pronunciation to correct me with! I love the moors.... All my best

Ah, my trademark hat! It’s my very old and beloved Gray Nicolls cricket hat from about 1994. Light weight, dries quickly, scrunches up and bounces back to shape. Perfect for hiking. Repaired it often. Tried in vain to find another one on eBay. It fits my head perfectly and can’t remember it ever blowing or falling off!
