Thank you for taking the time to show a little kindness and humanity to a fellow living being that was treated like it was nothing, I get we eat lobsters and crabs but you show them respect, you are very careful to not upset the balance and follow the rules to ensure your son can do the same thing you are doing when he grows up and that the resources last. Sadly, in a lot of areas there is a fish shortage causing larger fish like sharks to not get their fill, if everyone acted and thought like you do there would be plenty for us and them and even extra. Seeing how careful you are to obey the rules, to only take what you need and leave the rest, and to not upset or disturb the area where your forage is admirable. Thank you.

You are the first one I've seen actually show us u diving and educate us. I love that u don't take this girl and fixed her poor claw I don't mind scaveging and eating sea food but I find some people to be so greedy but not you. I watched a guy pull an octopus head off trying to get it from under a rock on camera. I unsubscribed immediately to him and then found u. So glad I did.

In general any mild soap, I dont have any soap I use in particular, but have found that the intimate soaps are milder on the skin, and maybe a tiny bit more slippary than normaly bodywash. General rule in freediving as I know is mild soap without perfume. Most people use a variety of intimate soaps, both because of the skincare as some have reactions because of the perfume, and because they say they're more "slimey" so it takes less soap.

The Undersea footage was exceptional clarity was 2nd to none . Reminded me of the legendary Jacques Cousteau. I reckon the Lobster that you found with tape on it .. had been like that for at least 6mths to a year . Can't see that escaping from a creelboat . Had to have been thrown back like that by someone . Good to see that you both also like the coral on the scallops . never seen the point of restraunts selling scallops without the coral ,

- I agree Colin. Its come from a non commercial fisherman. Possibly its been carrying eggs and they've taped her and put her in a store pot and she's escaped? Or she's been part of an unlicensed haul where they've had too many onboard and been rumbled - so tossed her sharpish? Either way I hope she is better off now. 😊

Those Spider Crabs need to grow up a little! Love that you saved the lobster- I'm still shaking my head on why someone would do that😣. Lovely scallops! I'm going to order some this week so I can have a good dinner. Watching this really makes me hungry for scallops. Truthfully, I really respect the dynamite flavor of scallops, so I usually just use a little butter/olive oil combo (so you can do higher heat without burning the butter) and drop a little salt and pepper on them and get that nice sear on them.

I speculate someone was about to get caught with an undersized female lobster and chucked the poor thing overboard. Seems kind of cruel. Does it prohibit what she can eat if she cannot use her claws?
@TheFishLocker
@TheFishLocker 4 жыл бұрын
- That is what I thought, though she was size so I expect she was either part of a catch where they had too many, or she was carrying eggs. Either way she is better off now. She can still feed a little as she has the finger type legs at the front but she can't defend herself or catch/chop up prey.

@@TheFishLocker Yes you have to be really careful diving into dark places, especially on your own. I dived into a hole in the side of the plating of the Bessemer City, a wreck near St Ives. I was a novice/young diver and got exited because I thought I had spied the ships bell submerged in the sand. It turned out to be a green plastic bucket, but when I tried to back out of the hole my tank kept catching on the top. I managed not to panic and It took me about 10 minutes to figure it out and I released air from my ABLJ so I sank enough to back up. All though I didn't know it at the time, my experienced dive 'buddy' was right behind me seeing how I would handle it. Back in the boat he called me an idiot and said you won't do that again will you lol. And I never went in anywhere again without letting my buddy know. 😇

- Its our pleasure Chuck, I felt very sad for her also. I can only hope that some type of accident has befallen that poor lobster somewhere along the line. I expect that she has been kept in a store pot at some point and has escaped. Possibly she was part of an unlicensed fishermans catch and they've been rumbled by the fisheries authority and ditched her over the side sharpish. Either way she is better off now. 😊

Man I’ve been forcefully inserting myself into wetsuits almost every single bloody day for the last 15 years and this is the first time I’ve heard about wetsuit lube. Love your videos, really thankful for what you’re doing and I was literally shaking my fist at the screen when you found and helped that taped lobster but... Wetsuit lube?? Am baffled. And thankful. Both for you caring about wildlife and helping them out and for letting me know that wetsuit lube existed. Best wishes to the whole family and thank you for the new video!

- Yes, the type of open cell spearfishing suit I use is easier to put on if you use a lube. You can buy "wetsuit lube" but I personally have just been using hair conditioner mixed with warm water. The Fish Locker What I personally find the easiest way to get wetsuits on is wearing a Speedo fastskin bodysuit underneath it, do recommend it. The wetsuit tends to slip over no matter how damp both the wetsuit and swimsuit are and it really doesn’t negate the effects of the wetsuit, whatsoever. Don’t know if anyone other than me does it though. I sort of discovered it by accident. Used to be a professional swimmer and had loads of competitive swimsuits lying around. Had the idea after waddling around shore for 15 minutes trying to get the crotch area of the wetsuit in place like a bloody Benny Hill skit. Do recommend pro swimming suits underneath wetsuits.

Why do people tape the claws and throw them back?
@TheFishLocker
@TheFishLocker 4 жыл бұрын
- It is usually that they tape their claws and keep them in a trap and they escape. Unlicensed fishermen can only keep 2 per day, so they maybe saw an enforcement officer and threw it back. It could have escaped from a keep pot? Either way its a slow agony for the lobster isn't it.

Hi John great video and oh how I envy you, fresh scallops straight from the sea into the pan wonderful. I like mine with chilli flake and garlic but there never as fresh as you had today. I was horrified about the tape on that female lobster, how anyone could do that, it must have affected her feeding, I take it that doing that is illegal if not it's definitely morally wrong.
@TheFishLocker
@TheFishLocker 4 жыл бұрын
- Something has happened somewhere along the line to leave her with that tape on. Either she's been taped and put in a keep pot and escaped, or someone has had too many onboard and seen a fisheries officer and tossed her back sharpish. Either way its not good. Likely its been an unlicensed fisherman. Commercial guys use elastic bands not tape usually. 😊

- There are a couple of possible scenarios that I can see. Either she has been carrying eggs and has been taped and stored in a keep pot but escaped. As always excellent video, underwater footage superb, Nice to see that the part of the sea you explored is teeming with life. My question is who could be so cruel as to bind a lobsters claws so it can't defend itself? I think this is the second time I have seen this disgusting practice and as this was a female (breeding lobster) it made matters worse. Thanks for the great entertainment to start my weekend.
@TheFishLocker
@TheFishLocker 4 жыл бұрын
- Thank you David. I only hope something accidental has happened somewhere along the line with this lobster. Other possible scenarios are that she has been taped and kept in a keep pot and escaped. It is illegal to land a berried lobster so potentially she had eggs and someone taped her up and kept her in a pot until she had dropped her eggs but she's escaped? Or an unlicensed guy has had too many onboard and been rumbled to tossed one sharpish? Who know? Either way. I hope she's better off now. 😊
