Would love to live near the sea! Did for 4 years while I was in the US Navy, but I miss the scent of the salt water in the morning! (those who've never lived near the ocean just wont understand) Would love to be along the ocean again, but I'd never be able to do the foraging like I used to (end-stage emphysema), but if anyone gets the opportunity...do it! LOL it reminds me years ago young and daft myself and a few mates took up diving we went to an area that we heard was good for diving but it was full of posh people with RIBs and the likes and we clubbed together for an old fiberglass dinghy we felt a bit embarrassed but we set off anyway onto the water, we got out there and surrounded by fancy boats we decided lets go over there away from them anyway we got in the water and went down only to realize the reason we had our own space was we dived directly onto a sewer outlet pipe there was condoms and tampaxes everywhere so obviously came back up and when in the car park a few came over and said what were you thinking of being sharp I said I know it was a shitty job literally but someone had to do it we were asked to do it by Greenpeace to get footage we got total respect and loads of people were coming over offering to buy us beer and give us respect while we were thinking prats

We did the same on Vancouver Island. We don't have lobster, we have Dungeness and Red Rock Crabs. Our Spider Crabs are very small compared to your species so we don't eat them. Dungeness is sort of comparable to your Brown Crab, Red Rocks are smaller but tastier meat. We had access to a beautiful beach only accessible by boat or through a mile of bush via our farm. Our clams are Little neck, Butter Clams, Cockles, Geoduck's. There were or are others but too small to really use. The Geoduck's are huge, 10" to 11" and a tongue that would stretch 2ft. There is a species of tiny crabs that live inside the shell. These clams have a huge stomach so we remove it, skin the tongue and blend it a bit to chop it up for chowder, the other clams you used in whatever way you want. I love ocean foraging, life just doesn't get better

Hot tip mate to stop the meat from the crab sticking to the shell is to put a good amount of apple cider vinegar in your cooking liquor and it will pop out whole without sticking everytime and it with sweeten the meat even more. This is what i used to do when i foraged for crab in Lowestoft and great Yarmouth before moving to Adelaide Australia. Happy hunting bud, subbed 😁
