@@dutcher32 10 years ago we almost bought a house in Wilmington area that never flooded. Way out of the flood area. For the past 8 years it’s been flooding ever since. Something told me not to buy. Glad I listened to my gut.

I live in Brunswick County and 100s of families have been displaced due to flooded homes. I've only heard of 1 casualtie so far. It's so sad to see our county like this.

1000s of us were stranded on the highways and sleeping in cars! I left Wilmington at 2pm with my Dad after his chemo treatment and could not get home to Southport until noon the next day. We tried for hours but route after route home kept washing out. We have over 100 road closures still today! I've been here most of my life and have never seen anything like it!

Some people are Diabetic in that stranded jam up. They had no food to bring up their glucose levels. My wife is a diabetic. Whenever we travel, we go prepared to be stranded for a couple days. We bring {$500}cash. Enough food to sustain us in the vehicle for 2 days. We bring 2 gallons of water. A battery booster. A quart of motor oil. A gallon of Engine coolant. Some simple tools. Beverages. $50000 in credit cards in case we have to buy a different vehicle. 2 charged flashlight's. 2 cellphones charged. Powerpack to charge the cellphones. Toilet paper. First aid kit. And we plan according with the weather. The whole time on vacation i pay attention to the weather channel. If a major storm comes, we pack up and go home and abandon the vacation. We never pack a lot of clothes. 2 shorts 2 pants 2 pairs socks,1 pair shoes.

You can find climate (and even local weather events sometimes) in fossil and rock records. That's how they have a timeline of places like Yellowstone and the Cascadia range blowing their tops.

This is a prime example of why more people need to get more prepared and think about "Emergency Preparedness Management" for both your home and vehicles. I am a KZbinr under my Full-Name with the same profile picture as this post with 47 videos covering 27 different category topic subjects sharing my personal knowledge and experiences with others to help others improve their overall adult lives. I've got videos on building yourself a high quality 24-72 Hour Survival Bug Out Bags, Home and Vehicle Preparedness and Readiness advice videos, several Financial Literacy advice videos, a dozen Cooking Creation Recipes videos, and more! That flooded area should also consider looking into Aqua Dams and Dam Easy door barriers products.
