Welcome to Week 1 of Coaster of the Day. Here were this week’s roller coasters.
Day 1, The Coney Island Cyclone. This classic 1927 wooden coaster is one of the most recognisable roller coasters in the world. Although it’s at a smaller scale compared to most of today’s world class scream machines, the thrills that this ride provides is still legendary to this very day. This ride is located at Luna Park in Brooklyn, New York.
Day 2, Superman The Ride. Previously known as Superman: Ride of Steel and Bizarro, this was a smash hit for both Six Flags New England and Swiss manufacturer Intamin, as it features a vast amount of twists and turns, as well as a plentiful amount of airtime. This ride is located at Six Flags New England in Agawam, Massachusetts.
Day 3, Hakugei. This massive creation by American manufacturer Rocky Mountain Construction replaced the gargantuan White Cyclone wooden coaster. This 2019 hybrid coaster sends riders through a hefty amount of tight turns, twisty inversions, and powerful pops of airtime. This ride is located at Nagashima Spa Land in Kuwana, Japan.
Day 4, Tornado. Placed in the heart of the world’s oldest amusement park, this extreme spinning coaster starts off with a high speed lift and launch combo before sending you through multiple tight twists and sharp turns. For those who want to push their insanity further, don’t forget to ask the ride op for “Boost Mode”, which turns this already disorienting ride into one of the most absurd coaster experiences on the planet. This ride is located at Bakken in Klampenborg, Denmark.
Day 5, Dominator. With over 4200 feet of track, this is the longest floorless roller coaster in the world, and the only floorless coaster to be relocated from one park to another. This coaster originally opened at Geauga Lake, formerly Six Flags Ohio and Six Flags Worlds of Adventure, under the name “Batman Knight Flight”. 7 years after the ride opened, Geauga Lake closed down and this large floorless coaster still resides in its new home since 2008. This ride is located at Kings Dominion in Doswell, Virginia.
Day 6, Fury. At 66.2 miles an hour, or 106.6 kilometers an hour, this is the fastest launch coaster in Belgium. An awesome feature on here that you don’t find on many other coasters is the decision of direction. On each rider’s lap bar is a prompt on whether the whole train is gonna go through the main course either forwards or backwards. It’s such a fun feature that ramps up the re-ridability on this 2019 coaster. This ride is located at Bobbejaanland in Lichtaart, Belgium.
Day 7, Vortex. This is one of the only Arrow Dynamics suspended coasters left in the world, as well as the only one ever built in Canada. This ride starts off high up on a faux mountain before dropping you down for some low swooping, rapid twisting, and tight turning action while the cars swing in whatever direction the g-forces take it. This ride is located at Canada’s Wonderland in Vaughan, Ontario, Canada.
