(4K) Los Angeles Railfanning including Amtrak California Dash 8s

Amtrak, BNSF, and Metrolink trains around the Los Angeles area. Also includes Amtrak California Dash 8 locomotives, which were down in LA with extra cars to help carry the extra passengers Amtrak was getting because of the floods by Santa Barbara that closed the 101 freeway.

I was an AMT engineer out of LA when we got those miserable machines. We engineers called them trash 8's. They are the most miserable machines I ever operated besides the P42 techno turds. When you turned on the HEP, it took 1,000 hp from traction, so you had only 2,200 hp for power. It took forever to get up speed. These things were ordered by the ATSF, but were refused. AMT paid $1.75 million per, what a ripoff!

2052 was retired due to a mechanical issue. 2051 is still in service but mainly used for yard switching

Those 2000's have more than a passing acquaintance with the B&O,as an Easterner,it's noticed! Also the Tri-rail down in Miami runs similar cab cars to Metrolink,could they have been an add on order? East and West do meet in some odd places!
