It's correct that the rides are owned by usually a family that travels from fair to fair. That's why you have to buy tickets individually for each ride. They maintain and operate the rides as their own business and they have to apply for places on the fair to the city.
@UwePieper
@UwePieper Жыл бұрын
Yeah. From all theme park channels I follow it took me some time to understand that fairs in the US are basically set up by single companies. I like the setup here better. It‘s definitely more expensive but you get different rides to the fairs.
@CivilianSatellite

@@UwePieper Not to mention since they're individually owned, they're all competing for your money. So they all tend to run at their absolute best cycles with thematic effects to draw you in.

@@je6a478 Up in Denmark we dont have anywhere near as strong of a fair ride scene, so we really just have 3 or 4 family owned companies with a collection of transportable rides where they're offered to fairs as a full package, with all the rides by one family. So we dont have anything as large as Germany does, heck our largest travelling coaster is a Wacky Worm.

As a German: 1. Normally EVERYONE has to Pay for the toilet, i was at Rheinkirmes and many other fairs and i never get free pee. 2. To the first part: It's actually really common at some cities during fairs or other festivals in Germany that men don't have to pay for toilets, because most would pee on the streets and stuff. Which I think is really unfair and dumb to reward shitty behavior to the disadvantage of other people and in this case women.

The fair is a group of multiple operators. The toilets are run by their own company and doesn't earn anything from the rides which is why bathrooms are paid. These operators often also run foodtrucks and depending on the event's payment structure charge the organizer or the guests for their services. Now I don't know about Germany, but here in the Netherlands freestanding urinals are often a requirement from municipalities for events in public spaces. Because drunk dudes who don't want to or can't pay for a toilet will wander away from the event and cause trouble. Some feminist protestors have argued that the municipalities should demand free unisex toilets and not aid trouble causing men while letting law abiding women pay for their correct behavior.

If you ever want to visit german fairs again: this, Cranger Kirmes Herne, Oktoberfest München and Allerheiligenkirmes Soest are the big ones to go for. Many of the rides at Düsseldorf will also pop up in Herne, Olympia Looping is at München almost or even every year, and Soest always has an awesome lineup of attractions located in the middle of an old german town which is super unique. Hey Taylor, the reason dudes don't have to pay for the urinals is that,. as you already correctly commented, Dudes don't need to sit down. If they where to charge for the urinals, they would, especially as drunk as most people there are, just pee wherever they'd find a quiet corner. And since nobody wants to have somebody pee on the back of their Bratwurst Stand, urinals are free after 8.pm. And the reason we charge for the toilett is, that this pays for the person cleaning the toilett. Used to be done via tips, but is much better this way. Hope this helps.

normally the bigger fairs have the bigger prices. it could be that you pay 7eur for a ride in dusseldorf, but when that same ride is staying at a more local fair, it could be like 5 or 6. Also prices went really up in general after covid and inflation. i remember paying 3 to 5 euros for rides many years ago.

Always interesting to see non-Germans react to german funfairs. Having fences around most rides doesn't work here because on weekends, funfairs get so busy that they unload/load rides within 10 or 20 seconds at most - for that you need to jump on the moving platform and "fight" for a seat lol. And yeah - Alpinabahn very often dispatches every 30 seconds with a 4 train service on weekends.

No footage of the Ghost Rider? Such a shame, because there are only two of it left in the world. With Ghost Rider, Breake Dance, Shake and Infinity, you could have ridden the most important and famous carousels in Europe on a fairground. But you only had two hours. It's nice that you did it anyway. And yes, in Germany the carousels are not yet closed with fences. The red line on the ground is enough. 🙂 Many thanks at this point for your great videos. the thing about having to pay for the restroom is for a cleaner because they have to sit there all night to clean the stalls. for a urinal u just can stand up and dont touch anything but for a stall as a girl u have to sit down, and if u think about it, u rather sit on a clean toilet then on a dirty toilet because there is nobody to clean them because they dont get paid for it.

how are most of these rides themed more then a six flags coaster

You should know, that the German safety regulations are the most strict anywhere in the world. So maybe European people actually think twice before jumping on a ride in operation. Also the crew of most of the rides are watching closely if someone tries to jump on the ride.

Regulations can be strict but drinking on the job seems like a violation of a strict violation that should exist. Also, as a “European” myself, I find the generalization of “European smart race” a bit tacky.

I'm confused about our experience with the toilettes. Normally u don't need to pay. The cleaning crew looks mad at u but technically it's free... Has been like this at every fair I went in Germany.

I am not sure where you got this experience but you always had to pay at the 6 different fairs I visited this year and its only logical considering that these toilets are owned by private showmen/companies that try to make their money

@@JB-fd8jy I don't remember if the Person at Soest didn't pay attention, but to be honest normally I greet the Person in front... Didn't see a sign saying u need to pay. Sometimes they have a sign up, saying thanks for paying in German. But I have never been forced to do so.

I'm german and do these a lot, you have to pay like always. Outside is a table with plate on or something where you have to put your coins in. You usually don't pay at a person you just toss your money in a bucket or a plate
