Thanks for your question. You can use a silicone brush it will also help. I’ve use both and got great results. I'm waiting on my polygloss and other materials to arrive so I can strip down tumblers I messed up and resublimate. I noticed when you cured the tumblers using your heat press you did not rotate the tumbler. Typically when doing a full wrap sublimation tumbler I rotate my tumbler and press again. Is that step not needed when curing?
@atprints

Thanks for your question and comment. I saw many person rotate there tumblers but I've been sublimating tumblers for a years and never had to rotate them. Most ovens have heating elements at the bottom and top so the heat should be disturbed evenly in the oven. I think its all about getting the correct temperature and timing and you will be good. In this case with the polygloss I didn't had to rotate it.

Let's look at it as an original sublimation hard substrate, the item has to be white or light-colored. Multi- purpose paper is working for me just as good af A-Sub and a few others I've tried. Copy paper does not work the same. Those are very different types of paper. Copy paper is design to NOT release ink. The best thing about multi- purpose paper is getting out in legal size, which A- sub discontinued. It is not as thick, so be sure to use a piece for blow out. Still, @ $17/ream legal size! Us can't beat it. Hope this helps!

How are the items you made using this coating application holding up? Any fading from the dishwasher or sunlight? Do you think it's worth the time compared with buying already done? Thank you for the video.
@atprints
@atprints Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your question. I always recommend not using or putting any items coated with Polygloss in the dishwasher or the oven as the heat can reactivate the Polygloss. I did a video where I coated a ceramic tile and I left it out for a year and it's still outside to this day since that video and it took on some fading because I have it directly hitting the sunlight every day. However, my mugs and bottles are still fresh and look good but I will say you have to care them. In relation to the comparison of buying ready-done sublimation items or using Polygloss. I will say that sublimation blanks will surely come out great but for those who may be low on funding, they can purchase Polygloss get use cheaper tumblers, mugs, and different items, coat them, and still get great results. So it is worth it. However, it all depends on what you are looking for. Some people are into crafting and then love to use it for wood.

Ok last question... hopefully... if the cup is taller than the mug press, do you have to press it twice? So like, press the top of the cup then move it down and press again? Also for the copy paper, I saw another video someone said to use 96 or less brightness. If you go higher it messes up the formula.
@atprints
@atprints 3 жыл бұрын
In terms of questions feel free to ask me a lot of them lol. I don’t mine and you can even contact me on Facebook or IG and we can chat my Facebook and IG name is @allan21thompson. In relation to the mug been taller than the heating element you have to first decide if you want to cover the entire mug or a section. The mug press that I have came with different heating element sizes so I can sublimate shot glass and up to 17oz. So if your mug press doesn’t have the different element I would advise sticking to putting the image in the middle. Repressing the second part of the image may lead to bleeding. However I have not tried doing half and half on a mug that was taller than the mug press. In terms of the copy paper you are correct. Using 96% or less will work great. But as I mentioned in the video I realize that the sublimation paper still gave me that big quality look and the colors were way brighter. I also tried the copy paper on a ceramic tile and I have a video you can check that out and to be honest the copy paper brings it out a little faded. But I can still work. I hope this helps you 💪 and feel free to reach out to me on IG or Facebook @allan21thompson

@atprints 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your question. The polygloss doesn’t have a strong smell but if you allergies I would advise using a mask. I would also advise if you have a well ventilated area to use it then do so. In relation to using on home conditions. It is food safe and this is coming from the manufacturers. However, I always advise that if you are using it on a plate to not eat out of it although it’s food safe. I think it’s better to use it as an ornament. Mugs are different so you can use them. But at the end of the day the decision lies on you. Once again the product is food safe but when it comes to the plates I always recommend using as an ornament. Thank you for making this video, very helpful. Would dipping mugs, tumblers into the polygloss work the same as when it's brushed on?
@atprints
@atprints 2 жыл бұрын
This is an excellent and brilliant idea but my concern would be: 1: think about how much Polygloss you would have to use to do this. For example you might have to use a bucket or small container to mix a lot of Polygloss, then you can end up wasting a lot of the Polygloss. 2. You would have to be on the watch out for excess running of the polygloss. As you would know when you dip the mug, tumbler etc then set it on your table or work station of course some of that Polygloss or alot will be running down. I am not saying that your method cannot work because I do believe it can work and it sounds exciting. Another possible way you can try is coating the items like how some persons would do with epoxy. I am not sure if you ever tried that process so i will explain. 1. You can get a Cup Turner for Crafting, stick you tumbler on it 2. Put something to catch the extra polygloss that will leak onto the table or workstation and gentle pour the ploygloss onto the item as it spins and use your finger with plastic gloves and coat it 3. Leave it spinning for a bit so it can settle in, then you would follow the other methods to cure the item. I really hope this answer give some clarity and help you.

No I have never tried this method but using the tumbler holder/spinner and coat using hands with glove on sounds like a great one, so I will definitely test that out, thank you! Hello, Did you use the PolyGloss over a regular painted stainless steel tumbler? I have some I want to spray paint white and then put the image on over, but I want to know if it will work over spray paint before purchasing? Also what is A-sub paper? I'm new at this?
@atprints
@atprints 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for reaching out and thanks for your question. I am happy you asked this question. I actually was doing a video on old bottles and tumblers and trying the process of spray painting them they applying the polygloss to see if it would work. However, the problem is the spray paint. What I mean is you would have to use a particular type of paint that can absorb heat and the reason for this is normal spray paint will paint the bottle or tumbler however, after allowing that paint to dry you have to coat the tumbler or bottle with the polygloss and allow it to cure in an oven. Now when you start the curing process or should I say when I was testing and was to the curing stage. What I realize is that the paint started to bubble when it was curing so this causes a problem. I believe that a certain type of heat paint may have to be use. The type of paper I used is A_SUB Paper and this is a special paper that is used exclusively in sublimation printing and a special coating is added to the paper holds the dye sublimation inks. So at this moment I am in the process of still doing testing on different spray paint and heat paints so i can do a video on it. I know this was a long answer but I hope it helped and feel free to reach out to me on Instagram or Facebook @allan21thompson or you can find the links in the description of the video.

Yes, there are steps for spraying it on but most persons will not have a air compressor or paint gun so I am in the process of using another spray method and then I will release the video once everything works. Spraying can also cause bubbles so you have to be very careful.

Thank you for making this video! I found it quite informative, but I do have a couple questions because I am a total sublimation newbie. 🙂 1. Do you have to apply a sealer after the sublimation process is complete? 2. You showed how sublimation can be done using regular copy paper, did you use special ink or is this possible because of the sublimation coating? 3. If you use sublimation paper and have applied the sublimation coating, can you print your design/image using a regular inkjet printer? OK, that's all. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge!
@atprints
@atprints 2 жыл бұрын
Firstly I want to thank you for reaching out and also for asking your questions. As you are new to the sublimation world I want to welcome and congratulate you on this journey. Lets answer all your questions, but before I do I want you to understand that this video is particularly for taking bottles that are not coated for sublimation and making them into sublimation bottles, so I wanted you to understand that part. So in other words if the bottles were sublimation substrate then there would be no need for this process. Now lets answer the questions 1 by 1. 1. For this process in the video, yes you should use a clear premium sealer where you can spray it onto the item after sublimating. However, if the item is one that is an actual sublimation substate then when you are finish sublimating then you do not need to apply a sealer. 2.Yes, I showed an example using copy paper but would recommend sticking with the sublimation paper and yes because I used special ink which is Sublimation Ink and also because the items were coated for sublimation. So in other words both have to work together. If I didnt coat the items then the ink would never work, If I coated the items and not use the sublimation ink it still wouldnt of work so both have to work together as one. 3. Ok so for this last question its a bit tricky and I will explain why and still answer the question. So you asked if you can print your design/image using a regular inkjet printer with sublimation paper and having the sublimating coating applied to the items and to answer that question, it wouldnt work because although the paper maybe sublimation paper and the items are coated, the printer you will be using is inkjet and for sublimation you have to use sublimation ink or a sublimation printer. However, here is the tricky part. Many persons convert there inkjet printers to a sublimation printer where there would purchase an inkjet printer and sublimation ink, install the sublimation ink into the inkjet printer which will then turn it to a sublimation printer and then they just use sublimation paper. I also recommend if you are going to get a printer for sublimation it is best to get an actually sublimation printer for example SureColor F170 which is awesome. I do have an unboxing video on the F170 on my channel. However, its best to get an actual sublimation printer rather than purchasing an inkjet printer to then convert it into an sublimation printer. I know its a lengthy answer but I like to give as much detail and explanation as possible. I hope these answers help you and feel free to ask as many more you want to.

I am using polygloss on ceramic tiles does any know what we are supposed to do if we get bits of hair( be it pet or human or from the paint brush) and or fuzz on the tile before the polygloss fully dried? I try to pick it off but some I have had to pull to the edge from the center to get it off. Then I have smear marks.
@atprints

Thanks for this question. In this case you will have to try to get the hair off and if it leaves a smug or smear marks and its in the process of drying, it would be best if you will have to mix another set of polygloss and coat the area

while you are poly glossing a tumbler and yo are using a apint brush, how do you get rid of the brush stroke streaks as every time i try to do a 20oz tumbler and i get done using the poly gloss and i go to sublimate on it all i see after im done is the paint brush streaks... how do i prevent this?
@atprints
@atprints 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your question. I would advice clipping the edge of the brush first. Also make sure to put on the polygloss thick and move the brush very light over the tumbler. If you put to much pressure on the tumbler when applying the polygloss you will get streaks. So make sure the polygloss is mixed correctly, and when you dip the brush in it, make sure that you put it on thick and gently pass the brush over the tumbler and not put pressure while putting it on. Also keep looking at the tumbler very carefully when apply it and if you see streaks then apply more polygloss but remember gently pass the brush over the tumbler and not heavy pressure. I hope this helps you.

Vital question for ya. When it comes to sublimation I'm pretty new at it. I've been using HTV for years but I bought the Dyepress PolyGloss for hard surfaces however, I can't find any info on a certain subject which is, using the Dyepress PolyGloss over high heat spray paint such as for tumblers? Your videos are amazing so I thought you'd be the best one to ask about the subject.
@atprints
@atprints 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for this amazing question. There is so much I can say on this topic but I will keep it short and release a video on that process. What I can tell you is that I’ve been working in the background using heat spray paint and the polygloss and what I would say is that the paint goes on well then after fully dries the polygloss does also but the issues comes when you have to cure the tumbler. Once you put that in the oven to cure then the spray paint starts to bubble up and come off. I believe it can work but we will have to allow the tumbler to cure in stages so the spray paint would not be affected. I’m in the process of doing more videos with the polygloss with spray paint and also using a spray gun. I hope I was able to answer you question to a point.

@atprints
@atprints 2 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks for reaching out and I will try to help you as much as possible. There are alot of aspects we can look at. Firstly lets take a look at the toaster. A toaster can do the job but you might have to lower the temperature a bit as the heat can be to hot for baking/curing the tumbler. The next thing would be to get a temperature gun so you can get the correct temperature when you are curing your items in the toaster. If the toaster is to hot the polygloss will turn brown so your problem at this moment might be that the temperature is to high and that you just might be leaving it in to long. Can i ask what type of toaster do you have?

Thank you so much for responding! I have the new black and decker with the air fry option.
@atprints
@atprints 2 жыл бұрын
@@courtneypainter2394 Ok thanks for confirming so if the toaster is one of the small ones, this could also be why your tumblers are getting brown so quickly. Why I say this is because the smaller the toaster, the less room it have for the heat to circulate. So what you would have to do is closely monitor it. Take down the temperature, put in the tumbler and check it every 2 minutes or if you leave it at the high temperature make sure to check it every minute. In other words stay in front the toaster and watch it to see when it actually starts to show that brown coming. But in your case i would lower the temperature and watch/check every 2 minutes. You can also bring back to life those tumblers that turned brown. I have another video showing how i restored some. Its a process but it can work. Take a look here -kzbin.info/www/bejne/hJ3Eh6OXnJikf6M
