Cobb Short Shifter Install - Subaru Impreza WRX

At long last, we have a short shifter installed in my WRX. This is one of my favorite car modifications, so I'm glad to have it done. Feel free to use this video to help you know how to install a WRX short shifter. It isn't that different from an STI short shifter install too!

Honestly super nice video. I just bought a 2013 WRX hatch and I've been trying to find videos about the supposed STI short throw shifter. However, I think that was a hoax from the dealer because the throw looks exactly the same as your stock one. Gonna have to get that short shifter now. Thanks!

Don't know about the 2013 but the Subaru short throw shifter for the 2003 WRX still has pretty long throws. With the Cobb shifter you can adjust it to actual short throws (~2-1/4"). A big improvement!

Nice vid! What could be the cause of wobbly shifter when put in gear? Front and rear bushings or the U joint bushings

I found no result: Audiobringer - Memories And I would like to ask you this: how big is the custom adjustable range of short throw? I mean, the question is this: If I would be able to make the knob's height same as the OEM, how much the throws will be shorter? Thanks. Because lowering the shifter stick in order to get shorter throws is not ideal. It is not good for fast driving in terms of control of the car.

Got a question I installed a cobb short shifter in my 08 wrx and I have to force the shifter all the way to the left or right depending what gear I’m in do you know why it could be that hard? Like I have to force it and sometimes even force it into gear? Shifter problem? Or do you think it could be more?

Thanks for the tutorial! It’s one of the best walkthrough I found on KZbin. Did you have to climb underneath and lock the reverse cable before taking things apart inside the car? One of the other videos did it but it’s for a STI. None of the tutorials for WRX have this step.

Probably worth noting, shortening the lower shaft actually increases your throw. You just showed everyone how to install a short shifter so it can act like a long shifter...
