ERROR: in the closing remarks I stated that you won’t get an Oxford on the 312 last. This is untrue… the Winston uR, a wingtip Oxford is available on the 312 last, but it like the Alex uR also has the Vibram or Dainite rubber lug sole.

Peter is so knowledgeable And great to work with! Currently have 9 pairs of Cobbler Union shoes and boots. I don’t hate rubber soles. I just didn’t want them on my first pair of Cobbler Union shoes! I knew going there I wanted a classy, beautiful shoe with a fiddleback waist. Maybe next time I’ll get the mustard colored LWB with rubber/Dainite soles?

For the City last and 358 last, that's what worked for me. On the 312 last up a half size was enough.

I'm so glad one of my wide-footed friends did a fitting! Now I know what lasts will work best. It's always scary ordering something from a company that doesn't offer wide sizes.

I wear 9 1/2 e Allen Edmonds shoes, and I could wear a 8.5 uK Cobbler Unions, but at the end of the day I could feel some pain on the side of my foot. I gotta say though, they are very well constructed and I like the soles and bevel waist!

Which model/last was this? 8.5UK is 9.5 US BTW... maybe go up a half size, or try a different last?

Robert I have similar feet. Wide but wider in the right foot because the big toe seems to spread further. I've thought about going bespoke. I really wish they had the 12.5 shoe in in the 358 last, I'd love to know how it fits you.

Maybe I’m wrong, but with their relatively long last shapes, I would imagine it’s easier to size down to reduce width, while still having enough length? Or no?

@@CobblerBob You're 100% correct. I just particularly liked the shape of the 888 last that the new 358 doesn't quite have. That's just me nitpicking though.

LOL, I may have... it wasn't intentional, but it really wasn't easy getting a shoe to fit. I'm quite detail oriented, and I've learned the hard way buying shoes that didn't fit well before, so I'm not going to do it again. The main problem is that an ill fitting shoe won't hurt for several hours after wearing, so just popping one on can be deceiving. Anyway, from here forward it will be an easy process (assmuming they fit like I believe they will). Also, the effort they put in with me should also pay off for them by helping other wide footed men start purchasing their shoes. Cheers!

@@CobblerBob haha that’s a good point, Robert! I too am not easy to find shoes or suits that fit so I can relate. I have three pair of cobbler union shoes and I love them. One pair feels too big but I absolutely hate dealing with returns or exchanges! I wish I had a chance to visit the store last time I was in Georgia but couldn’t find time. Cheers my friend!

What's confusing for me is that on the CU website, it advises to order a half size smaller for 888 last shoes, but to order one's true size for the 358, but it was made clear in this video that the 888 is narrower than the new 358. So...why order an 888 a half size smaller? Wouldn't it be the other way around if anything? I think I will ask CU directly.

Hi Robert! Thank you so much for the video. You and I appear to have VERY similarly sized feet. In addition to apparently identical Brannock readings, I have large volume in the ball of my foot, as well as a high instep. Measuring circumference gives me 11.75-12” and places me in the EEE size. I’m just starting to try to look for nice, high quality shoes, but I’m having difficulty finding shoes that fit. I’m looking for boots, primarily… including some dress boots. Do you know of any lasts used in boots/dress boots that work well for you that perhaps I should look into?

I'd love to help, but I don't really know all of the brands, or even just Allen Edmonds that well to be ablet to say. I'd recomend searching the Reddit subreddit r/Goodyearwelt, or going to Styleforum, or going into a physical Allen Edmonds store when the store manager or someone well versed in that will be there. The AE staff at our local store has always been a huge help with fitting the best last for me.
