Wow. Just got to the end of the video...and those R.M. Williams' Chelsea's...are absolutely gorgeous. I have got to look them up...and see how much their boots run. They truly are a gorgeous boot.

Are the Vibram explosion half-soles fairly flexible and would you recommend them for use on loafers too?

Good job man. Love RM Williams
@b_altmann2 жыл бұрын
Yes I have been thinking about this as they don’t offer them with a rubber sole and a leather insole. Only thing is RM will not do a re-soling job after third party work has been carried out.

With as much vibram rubber that is trimmed off...I would rather Vibram added that portion of the rubber to the thickenss of the sole guard, and just make a smaller over-all sole guard. With all that excess...one could probably get twice as much thickness, resulting in a much longer lasting sole guard. I just hate to see all that good rubber go to waste. (But them again...I am the kind of guy who will pick a penny off the ground and save it...lol). Another great video. Keep up the great work sir.

I always have them applied on all of my leather sole shoes. But I've wondered, if it's just the half soles and rubber heels getting worn out and replaced, will I ever have to have the leather resoled or the shoe recrafted? Thanks!
@TheGlassToe3 жыл бұрын
eventually you will, but that's a LONG eventually. every time a new pair of sole guards gets put on the leather underneath has to be lightly sanded and roughed up so it does wear over time. How many sole guards can you get before a new sole is needed, no clue but you have a long while

Hmmmmmm...R.M.Williams', longhorn logo...is very familiar to me. Being from Texas, (Houston area), that logo, looks just like the University of Texas' longhorn logo...BEVO. Right down to the "burnt orange" color. I thought it was a University of Texas logo at first. Hmmmmm...I wonder where R.M. Williams got the idea for their logo? Well anyway...I like the R.M. Williams' Chelsea's. They appear to be well made and are quite attractive. Will have to look into possibly owning a pair. Another great job by Cobblers Plus. Keep up the great work, and thanks for the video. You get a "like", and a new subscriber.

Maybe you can google them. Find out the history. I assure you, Mr Williams would not have been aware of the University of Texas existance when he started out. But he knew a lot about longhorns.

I admire your work. I just wonder what type of person requests you to paint over a masterpiece. The new rubber soles wont make the boots anymore flexible. I think the client just wanted to feel a little taller maybe. He could have bought the same boots with a rubber sole and saved himself a couple of hundred.

I just got my first pair of RM Williams Comfort Craftmans rubber sole. Not kind of sure if I should put on the Vibram Sole Protecters 2340 Explosion with the matching heels on them so as to prevent wear on the original ones. I've always done this on all my other shoes especially those with leather sole and this practice has made all my shoes last for years. I'd asked the sales person at the store and needless to say, he told me that it was not necessary. I'm hoping to get a second opinion from a professional here. Thanks.

RM Williams is an institution in Australia, lot of people have them. I find it strange that some people put a sole protector on a leather sole, it is possible to buy RM Williams with rubber soles. In my opinion, I think it would make sense to buy the rubber sole version.

Maybe some people can find sales on leather bottoms, and some prefer the leather/rubber combo. I myself always prefer leather, but in the rainy/snowy season, never! My bottom has meet the slippery pavement all too often :)

Leather molds to your foot and is more comfortable but rubber has better wear protection and traction so basically you get the best of both worlds, and also leather soles are easier to replace and look nicer

@@jackgolden1774 all RM Williams boots have a leather inner , the sole doesn’t mould to your foot.

Sole protector rubber will assist in keeping the iriginal shape of the leather, before it will flare out slightly through wearing them. Best time for this is some months after purchase and wearing. Certainly it will minimise slipping.

Pretty pointless buying the leather craftsman. Why not buy the comfort craftsman if you want rubber soles.
