I’ve been wearing RM Williams boots for 20 or maybe even 25 years. Really comfortable and hardwearing. I have several pairs. They’re fairly expensive, but well worth it in my opinion. I do look after them, conditioning them and polishing them when needed.

I have a couple of pairs and wear them everyday for work, definitely prefer the rubber (comfort) sole though. The leather soles mean you slip around a fair bit and wear through the soles faster too. All beautiful boots though. :)

You don’t owe anyone an explanation about what footwear you choose to wear to work, you should wear what’s appropriate for you and your work environment . If the complainers want to buy you those shoes they feel you should wear, take them, and still wear what you want. By the way, you do great work!

RM top quality boots. I get my cobbler to put a half sole rubber soles on top of the leather for better traction and deal with British weather. BUT I don't destroy a beautiful new pair by completely changing the original heels and soles. !! I just see the point !!!!

Im a regular follower of your channel and in general find your work of high quality. Myself having 10 pairs of RM Williams. My favourites are the Blaxland and Craftsman models, crafted with comfort rubber soles. That sole is very durable and long lasting, but can be slippery due to not having the studs as for the Dainite soles. RM Williams using only top grain leather and they seem to last for ever. My oldest pair is now soon 11 years and have been worn regualry since new. Still on the same rubber sole. Myself finding them as Chelsa boots unique, since they are made from one piece of leather (uppers) joint in one seam at the heel. Kind regards Mr. Iversen from Norway.

Hi, since you are an RMW aficionado, I'd appreciate your help. I bought a pair retail awhile ago and they were too small from the beginning. Sent them to RMW in Australia to "size up" half a size. Still too small. So I gave up and sold them off on ebay. I ordered a pair a full size larger thinking it would be plenty, but now my big toe is hitting the top of the toe box. Not the end of the boot but it's a little bit up against the toe box. Do your toes touch at all? I'm sure with 10 pairs you have the sizing figured out perfectly. Thank you

RMs are the first dress boot my big heavy wide feet can tolerate - they’re less cushiony than the Blundstone equivalent but they don’t nearly have the build quality like RM. I personally love mine - I have the comfort (rubber soled) type though, not the leather heeled used in the video

Not gonna be your typical Australian and say how amazing this boots are out of pride. my oldest pair which is now 10 years now still is going strong. They use to be made entirely of leather including the shank, heel counter etc. The new one i purchased 2 years ago is an absolute shame just like what you have shown and are done and cannot be worn anymore.
@Orwic1

Same here. I’ve been buying those boots for what must be close on 25 years. My older still RMW boots seem better built than the ones you get now. The last pair I bought started to come apart after a few months wear. I got them repaired, and they were OK after that. To be fair, that’s the only pair I’ve had a problem with though.

How far do the nails go into the heel? They look like they would stick in the heel of the wearer.
@CobblersPlus
@CobblersPlus 4 жыл бұрын
The go through about half of the top lift and into the heel block mostly. And it’s very rare but about 1/8in of it can go into the sole. We always check before running the nails in to make sure everything is fine

How would you compare the comfort of a dainite sole to traditional leather? The lack of shock absorption on traditional leather soles absolutely killed my feet on concrete after a few hundred steps. (I've been wearing sneakers my whole life and am new to the dress shoe world.)
@CobblersPlus
@CobblersPlus 4 жыл бұрын
I know where you are coming from with being used to wearing sneakers most of my life as well. The Dainite soles will definitely help with that but the trick is to actually really work at trying to break in the shoe so that the footbed molds to your foot. Also if you want an even softer sole than the Dainite that might work nice is the Vibram Eton sole. It’s a softer rubber.
@Orwic1
@Orwic1 3 жыл бұрын
You get used to those leather soles. As a kid (a very long time ago, when very few people wore sneakers, at least in the UK) we wore leather soled shoes, often with ‘segs’, as we called them in the UK, which are small metal plates with three short nails that you hammered into the leather heels to reduce wear. Same in the toes. They were pretty noisy, you could hear us coming from 100 yards away. But they were very slippery on a smooth surface. You develop a special way of walking so that you don’t fall over! You can still buy those segs at traditional cobblers in the UK, and I’ve still got my father’s last to hammer those nails in if I ever needed too.
