hmmm, i think it was less the sandworms and more cast using 4 units to drag half of his opponent army off the relevant battlefield till the end of the rounds, thous early flanks and his general army pozitioning seams to be a bit of a pain to deal with if you don't know that it's coming

The fact that Mat never got any AA was also a big problem, as he was letting the opponent's phoenix roam around and pick his arclights and sabertooths, making him lose the chaff battle while his phoenix were locked on chaff.

Dude, you would be surprised how often pro and high level players just... Ignore air, then lose and wonder how the enemy has so many air units left. Or worse "They have wasps... Marksman air spec". Like, my guy, just take mustangs, or typhoons, or fangs, or your own wasps.

Worms was nerfed slightly in the most recent patch, the most common techs used in standard vs standard got a small cost increase, Are worms op? Not really, they are just very good into boards built for standard vs standard range war

Great to see the kitty ❤, personally planning on getting another one soon. And man I think worms is one of the best units rn. I was watching apooche the other day and it does feel like they are the best giant unit outside of maybe melters. I started using them and it's been a lot of fun, it's hard for me not to pick them now.

Improved sandworm definitely feels like one of the best improved unit cards, just because of that splash increase. They already have a good bit, so +5 meters is an insane amount of area, esspecially when chaff tend to clump up around it. And because the thing which really kills sandworms is tieing them up in fields of chaff, making them rip through vast swathes of chaff with every strike is an insanely good upgrade. That being said, i don't think there was the best counterplay to the worms shown in these videos. The fang play didn't have any time to develop of course, but the mass sabertooth when it wasn't really working seems like a misplay. Not to discredit cast, he made it extremely difficult to respond properly to anything he did in good time, but can't give the worms all the credit.

Goign Stormcallers into worms feels like a problem. If they come up they cant shoot, and worms cant be interacted with underground so their range is wasted against the worms. He already had the arclights vs the chaff right ? I didnt realize that EMP on melee units also reduces their attack interval it seems. Against ranged units it only slows if they change target, not in general.

@20:52, I want to have a healthy respect of my opponent. I dont want it to be a given that I can out think them. For thats what the matchmaker is for. Hooking you up with someone who has similar play potential.
