Part 2 of bringing the Cobra 146 GTL back to life. I ran into a couple of issues while recapping the radio.

Never owned a 146 so not any help on the circuits. I do have a hint for testing frequency and sound from cb radios. Put a dummy load on the radio to be tested and on a second radio, of known quality, such as your 980. put them 10-29 feet apart, adjusting RF gain as needed, Then you can transmit from the radio you are testing and hear it on the good radio. You can then adjust the frequency of the tested radio against the known radio or the other way around if you want to test the receive on the test radio. Old trick from an old dog. For bare foot radio a 5 watt dummy load or any bigger size if you want. KR66

Thanks for the tip! That’s what I was thinking. I’m going to move one of the radios to the other end of the house. My next project is to install the meter I ordered. I believe I figured out how to remove the old one. 73s.
