Amazing what folks will do to 'improve' their radios. "I'll just cut this little ole trace and bam, look at that extra power! Wow. Just like puttin a 4 bbl on my 327. " It was useful to see the scope display showing the over modulated signal then, later, the corrected and nice modulation response. You might have explained why the power reading is fake, ghost,. My explanation: When the radio audio is over driven,(like by cutting the trace) it creates unwanted output signals on other frequencies. The power meter measures everything coming through it so you now see a higher reading because you now have these additional signals adding to your overall measurement. But they are not 'on channel'. In fact, your desired output frequency may even be degraded. Thanks for the vid. Gonna go see what else you have out there.

I know this is an old video but hope maybe i can get a reply. I got a 25 that transmits and receives but i get no sound from the speaker or an external. When i removed the cover, L401 has a bad solder joint. Could that cause the issue? Its a 2017 model made in China

What is a good scope to purchase when starting out ???
@TheRadioGarage2 жыл бұрын
I would use an analog scope. Just about any of them will work.
