What is the TO126 package mounted on the inside of the case?........looks a bit hacked on, no insulation on leads and a bit messy, plastic screw etc.

@@TheEmbeddedHobbyist Looks to me it's some sort of mod that was done during the refurb that Scott mentioned. Terrible!

@@IanScottJohnston I expect it's a regulator using the case as a heatsink. So could have been replaced at some point. But they could have kept the mica insulator in line with the device. I once got in trouble for asking the production supervisor if QC inspector's guide dog was not in today as he was letting some real bad work continue through production.
